I cam across when walking from Trinity church to the theatre. A large audience watching a free show of one of Shakespeare's plays on a sunny afternoon in a nice park by the river. Very pleasant.

Brilliant two days at the Dell Open Air Theatre In Stratford Upon Avon. The Brit School's young people were professional, original and brilliant.

Went for an afternoon visit to Stratford from Coventry. Can across a placard with details of shows throughout the Summer. Saw Romeo & Juliet by a visiting troupe from Dublin. Excellent performance for an outdoor venue. Occasional disturbance from passing tour bus, but overall excellent value for a free show. Donations bucket at the end. There's 2 shows a day at 12pm & 3pm on the weekends. Bring a picnic and enjoy.

Lovely location if the weather is good!

A small stage in the field next to the theatre and a great place to watch local groups perform for free (donation). Also the church next door is a must but there is a fee.

Watched A Midsummer Night's Dream and Macbeth and they were both excellent, perfectly abridged into about an hour. The actors were surprisingly good for a free shows (buckets at the end with just a request for a donation). We all enjoyed both plays. Best of all our 2 children loved A Midsummer Night's Dream especially - the comedy elements were really done so beautifully that there was a lot of laughing out loud - that I think we now have 2 children who 'get' Shakespeare, for which I am very grateful to these actors.

Shockingly poor

We had high hopes for this, but sadly this week's performance of 'As You Like It' was truly awful. I know the play very well, but that did not help me to follow what was going on at any given point. The cast appeared to have very little idea of what they were doing, or what they were saying. Several were reading their lines from A4 scripts, although not always successfully. The only person that was entertaining to watch was an Iranian actor, who was like an 'island of awesome' in a 'sea of terrible'.
At the end of the play (we had stayed out of politeness and a futile sense of hope), we were grumpily told that the cast had paid for this out of their own pockets, and asked to donate money.

Had the pleasure of being involved in the free shows that were on a few weeks ago and loved it here. The RSC staff were lovely and the whole setting is beautiful.

Free plays run by the RSC (they even can provide a rug you can sit on). Travelling companies come to perform there and they seem to be at their best this is Stratford after all! Ideally take a picnic and brolly.

This is just great. Went with our two young children and this was perfect for them. Seeing a play in just over an hour in very relaxed (and beautiful) surroundings. For our younger child she could have a wander round when her attention started to slide. We took a picnic and enjoyed a great performance (As you like it). And all this for free!
