Compton Verney wears it's jewels lightly. A country house gallery which is set in a living, thriving and evolving eighteenth century park landscape (based upon an inspired design by Capability Brown) the house has a number of gallery spaces. At our visit and wIthout exception, the staff were friendly and helpful. This, combined with a varied mix of well-curated exhibitions... More

First visit to Compton Verney to see 2 exhibitions. All members of staff were very friendly and helpful. There were plenty of places to take a rest or take time to see or listen to the great exhibits. 'Britain in the 50's' was great. I also enjoyed seeing all the unseen BBC photos of Comedians present and past. Beautiful park... More

A fascinating exhibition regardless of whether you remember the 50's. Many of the exhibits are timeless in their appeal and evoke a sense of nostalgia for a simpler world.

Set in idyllic warwickshire countryside this architectural delight set in 'Capability Brown' landscaping pleases at various levels. There is a permanent art collection and usually an additional exhibition that shows for 3-4 months. Currently, there is a nostalgic and light hearted look at design shortly after the war, 'England in the Fifties'. The grounds and ambling river through the estate... More

An attractive country house with an interesting history, set in grounds designed by Capability Brown and maintained to his original design, Also wildlife friendly, trees, flower meadow, substantial lake. Good eating (basic café plus restaurant which we didn't use but smelt delicious). The art gallery is the main raison d'etre and it's good- well laid out, good explanation documents, bright... More

My husband and I found Compton Verney quite lovely. We particularly enjoyed the special exhibit they had on Shakespeare as well as the British Folk Art exhibit. The Chinese Bronze collection was fascinating. The enjoyed the walk to and from the gallery over the grounds designed by Capability Brown.

I went with a friend mainly to see the exhibition about Shakespeare which was excellent, but was due to closeon June 19th.However, there is much to see apart from this and the house itself is set in beautiful grounds with a lake. From the house the view looking out over the lake with the pretty bridge is wortth a visit... More

Very disappointed with the offering that Compton Verney has. For £13 entry, I was expecting good art collection, interesting house and nice gardens. Good cafe should also come with this. Instead, I thought art collection was uninteresting, house itself could have been anywhere once inside, and gardens don't exist. The rolling hills around the house are nice, but nothing that...
