Second visit to Stratford-on-Avon when we have included a visit to The Attic Theatre, both performances have exceeded our expectations. Fantastic shows with absolutely brilliant actors. We visit a lot of theatres, two nights before at Richard III RSC production wonderful but have to be truthful enjoyed The Attic equally. I would unreservedly recommend if you are able to treat yourself and enjoy one of the town's hidden gems, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

A Midsummer Night's Dream by SE Theatre Company.
This was a spectacular production of the famous Shakespeare Play. The small intimate venue meant you could fully immersed in all the scenes along with the cast. I particularly loved the sub plot relationship between Puck and Fairy. They were completed captivating played by RBC students Lucas and Izzy. The play was laugh out loud funny, as well as dark and tense. I would highly recommend a visit to see this production if you are visiting Stratford. We will be returning to see this show again.

Me and my wife haven't visited the theatre very much over the years, apart from the big London shows.
But we did see the Magicians Elephant by the RSC and the Beauty & The Beast panto by Tread The Boards, both in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Truth be told, we really enjoyed the panto best and so we kept a look out for when they were next on so we could go and support them.
Their production of Macbeth was excellent, and that comes from as couple who doesn't read Shakespeare and so we did struggle with the dialogue at times. But having seen the Macbeth film at the cinema recently we had the gist of the plot which helped :)
The Attic Theatre is very small and so quite intimate. However, it's small size made it a thrill watching the actors up close and to observe their movements and intensity. This was the first matinee performance on a gloriously hot Saturday afternoon so the audience was a little lighter, but the actors genuinely seemed to want to give a heartfelt performance and for that we really appreciated their efforts.
We look forward to attending future productions by way of supporting the theatre through what must be very challenging times.

Small ensemble of 4 players gave a wonderful show in this small and personal theatre. They played everything including the bouncers and groups of party goers (guys and girls) who get more and more drunk as the night goes on. It is a really insightful parody of the nonsense most of us have experienced on a less than sober night out full of anticipation and the inevitable disappointment. Highly recommended.

My husband and I went to the performance of The Importance of Being Earnest in the Attic Theatre on Wednesday this week. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Having originally seen it many years ago on stage in Glasgow with Rupert Everett and having seen the film with Rupert Everett, Colin Firth and Maggie Smith, I wasn’t expecting to be as impressed as I was by the cast. They were phenomenal! The little theatre was quirky and intimate. This cast deserve to be seen by a wider audience. They did this witty play proud. We were also well looked after by the volunteer who guided us to the bar downstairs and looked after the theatre goers at the break. The obvious passion and love for this theatre was evident in all of those involved. I would highly recommend a visit

Well this was the first time we have gone to the attic theatre and did not know what to expect. But from the start after booking tickets online, a lady checked our Covid passport or LFT from that day, before we could enter which was great and made you feel safe as well as masks for all except children and medically exempt with proof. The show itself was great from start to finish, even with some characters having to be replaced at the last moment they still did an astonishing job. We enjoyed it that much that when they have a new play we will make a special trip to visit. There is a 20 minute interval for a comfort break. You will cry with laughter from start to finish and wish the actors and technical support every success.

Just back from watching a great production of MSND. Considering how hot it has been today, the cast maintained such a high energy, amusing performance throughout. It was genuinely very funny, my kids are aged 12,14,16 and 18 and we all enjoyed it alot. I've seen a review that commented on the heat in the theatre, it was warm but by no means breathtaking or intolerable. Don't let this put you off, just dress right and take a bottle of water. Can't recommend the company or the venue enough really, excellent bargain price too!

First theatre trip post pandemic and chose this lovely little theatre to see Hound of the Baskervilles. Fantastic production. Socially distanced performance so felt very safe. Treadtheboards has a loyal audience at this theatre and you can see why. Highly recommend a visit even if there are some bits that make you jump. Perfect for Halloween

I came to this performance of Macbeth with great expectations having never been disappointed at the Attic and honestly it surpassed anything I could have expected. The Scottish play is well suited to the intimate setting of the theatre and with the artful use of minimal scenery and props and possibly the best lighting and sound design I've seen in a theatre creates suitably foreboding and oppressive atmosphere. Performances all round were excellent and I hate to single people out but the three witches, Sarah Feltham, Ciara Lane and Sally Hyde Lomax were creepy and menacing and elicited some genuinely visceral reactions from the poor souls they chose to interact with. Fantastic also was the chemistry between Macbeth (Daniel Wilby) and Lady Macbeth (Alexandra Whitworth) which was riveting and you were never quite who was trying to persuade whom as their evil deeds spiralled them deeper and deeper into the abyss. Sadly I'm not sure which actor we had playing Young Fleance but honestly I've seen professionals do worse death scenes that that, he'll go far that lad!
Altogether a magical experience and one which will stay with me for some time.

We were visiting Stratford and decided to see Hound if the Baskervilles and I can honestly say it was a fantastic evening and a fantastic production. Each cast member gave an outstanding performance and an excellent value for money entertainment. Well done to all. We would definitely come back to see some more performances. 5 stars!!!

Is Sweeney Todd suitable for a 9 & 11 year old?

We would say not suitable for most primary age children but if your children are not easy to shock/scare they may be fine. Reviewers have said how dark it is and there is fair bit of fake blood around. Difficult to advise but you know your own children.
