We parked here and had a walk into Stratford-upon-Avon which took around 15minutes. Lovely walk, really peaceful and it was nice to walk back from the town centre to a quieter area after all the hustle and bustle :) Car park is great value for...More

We parked here and walked into Stratford along the river. Parking was inexpensive compared to town centre and is easy to access. Plenty of walks down the old railway track.

Visited on a beautiful sunny day at the end of August. Initially the sat nav struggled with The Greenway postcode and we ended up in a residential street by the Holy Trinity church! Anyway after eventually finding the actual car park there were plenty of...More

We went to The Greenway on Sunday 5th August 2018. The car park was £2. The route is straight and very pleasant as you cut through farmland but are protected by the hedges. After approximately one mile coming out of Stratford, the route was very...More

This trail is shared by walkers, cyclists and horse riders, and is flat, well surfaced and well signed. There is a car park,( for which you do have to pay) close to a cycle hire facility and a cafe, both of which are housed in...More

Spent a lovely sunny morning wandering around the Greenway checking out the canal boats as they passed and seeing another part of Stratford. If you want to get away from the tourists and love a bit of peace and quiet this is perfect

The freedom to walk and get into your own "space", listening to the wildlife around you and just savoring the peaceful surroundings. One can walk for miles or as long as you feel fit. A favourite of mine.

We wanted to cycle on our trip as our son loves it. I booked a traditional bike for myself and a mountain for my husband so we could all go for a ride. We emailed the address on the website and got a quick response....More

It is more of a mudway than a greenway in April 2018. Council now demanding parking fees at both ends. Lots of dog walkers, not all using poo bags.

One end of The Greenway is the River Avon. I would not recommend introducing dogs into the river. There is lots of space for the dogs to get exercise at the Greenway. If you go to Alderminster and The Bell, there is a field... More

Clifden or Westport?? (16 Replies)
I've been reading these incredibly useful and insightful forum topics for months as I plan our September trip... thank you so much for the valuable advice. I have most of the trip planned as follows: Arrive Dublin, drive to Carlingford for the first night. Nights 2 and 3 are in Ballintoy, County Antrim. Nights 4 and 5 are in Donegal. My problem is with where to stay on nights 6 and 7. Nights 8 & 9 are in Galway, 10 & 11 in Dublin prior to our departure. I am debating between Clifden and...More

Greetings! I never get tired of visiting Clifden, and Connemara N.P. Are you planning on staying overnight, then heading to Westport to p/u, the bikes for the Western Greenway, or, is this a choice of only one adventure? Keshgrammy

Greenway / Villa del Balbianello question (3 Replies)
I am interested in taking the ferry from Bellagio to Cadenabbia and then walking down the Greenway until we reach Lenno / Villa del Balbianello. Is the Villa directly available from the Greenway or do we need to get off the path in Lenno and find our way there? I know the Villa is closed on Mondays/Wednesdays. Are there any other logistical things I should consider when planning this?

The Villa is off the Greenway, but it is clearly signposted. When in Lenno, walk along the lake shore until the way goes inland, then make a left uphill. From the bifurcation, it takes approx. 20 minutes to the Villa.

Friendly Dungarvan (7 Replies)
I had looked through this forum prior to our visit to Dungarvan and was dissappointed to see a post titled Unfriendly Dungarvan. What a sweeping negative title for a post! Anyway, we had a lovely weekend in Dungarvan. Every where we went we found the people so genuine and helpful. There was even a mix up with out hotel booking and the receptonest sorted it without any drama. We found the staff in every bar so friendly and chatty - Nagles, Maisies, The Local and Paddy Foleys. The Greenway was...More
