Quick walk along the canal to the shops

Nice walk but at 6.30 pm there were a few dubious looking characters hanging around the pathways, we decided to walk back along the road instead.

This canal is great for looking at the swans and other river types. Also lovely for people watching. You can row your own boat!

we found the stretch of canal between Stratford and Preston Baget to be very pretty and reasonably easy to navigate a 60 ft barge along (by people who had never done it before). Lots of locks and the aquducts are great too. Lots of wildlife including Kingfishers. Everyone we met were very friendly.

We had been walking around Stratford all day and decided to have our lunch by the canal. It was busy but we still managed to spend a few hour sat taking in the views. There are plenty of trees for shade and a couple of nice cafes for a cup of tea. We played the mini golf, which was only... More

Stratford is a pleasant atmospheric & romantic town with a great deal of medieval & Tudor architecture. Stunningly beautiful actually. The narrow boats and swans on the canal make for a lovely sight. Be sure to spend time in the recreational grounds and to walk, run or bike along the waterways. We walked the Greenway and biked along the canal... More

The walk along the avon, opposite the theatre, is delightful and a circular route can be taken which is about 3 miles in length.

A boat trip is well worth the forty minute ride from just outside the theatre. The smaller boats are a better deal as they go further up and down the river and are quieter.

We took a boat ride down the River Avon canal. It was a very scenic ride as we saw lovely willow trees which were on either side of the canal. On a sunny day, this is what makes you feel good. Blue skies, greenery, and the gentle motion of the water. There are quite a number of swans and ducks.... More

It really is lovely to walk along the Avon. Don't miss the beautiful scenery of merry Olde England. Inspiring.
