A five minute walk from large car parks, next to the river, and two minutes from the shops, Bancroft gardens are well placed. On the day of our visit there was a market on the side of the park, which added another attraction. Strolling around the gardens there is lots to see and do. Kids were playing in the modern... More

Situated next to the canal and near bars and restaurant. Well kept parking. Went on a sunny Sunday and it was popular. Lots of little craft stores nearby selling all sorts

Ideal for picnics in the sun, sitting under one of the big oak trees in the shade or even a British shower! Watching the swans and ducks on the river. Even going on one of the boats down the river you should be able to relax. A very lovely park to walk, sit and play in.

Bancroft Gardens is a lovely garden and grass lawn park near the town centre. It is a lovely place for strolling, relaxing or enjoying a picnic while people watching. The flowers in the garden are flowers that were popular in Elizabethan England. There is an impressive Shakespeare Monument and a sun dial located next to the canal basin and narrow... More

I first walked the gardens 60 years ago on my first visit to the theatre. In those days the canal basin was full of weeds and (if I remember correctly) at least one hulked barge. Today it is thriving. That is the big change: the canal has been restored, the basin is busy and there are boats with different attractions... More

We love taking a walk around here and the area has had so much done to it and the energy is fab on hot summer days. Nothing better than grabbing an ice cream and feeding the ducks and having a walk around.

We were lucky, we visited on a sunny day. I liked the stories that surrounded the quirky statues. You could just sit by the canal and watch the boats go past. What made it better was that it was well kept, clean and tidy.

I visited Stratford Upon Avon over a whole weekend and the difference regarding the gardens was stricking. On a Saturday, they can offer a nice stroll or a meeting place. But on a Sunday, they are transformed into a very busy market, full of food stalls and visitors! Well worth visiting on a Sunday then, especially if the day is... More
