This fifteenth-century, charming thatched cottage was the childhood home of Anne Hathaway, Shakespeare's sweet-heart and wife.Experienced guides explain the stories behind the Shakespeare connection and the history of some well-known English idioms such as "chairman of the board".There are nine acres of gardens and grounds to explore including a lavender maze, a woodland walk, the Shakespeare arboretum and a living willow cabin where you may listen to some of Shakespeare's sonnets.

Lovely visit, cottage really well preserved.

Really enjoyed visiting the cottage. Apart from how really well it has been preserved, the staff are incredibly knowledgeable. Would recommend it to anyone visiting Stratford.

Really enjoyed out trip to Anne Hathaway's cottage. Weather wise, it wasn't a good day to see the outside interests, but the cottage itself was very interesting. The guide that was at the cottage was really informative and we really enjoyed listening to him telling us the history of the cottage, especially the history of Anne and William Shakespeare.

Given the importance of Shakespeare and that we were not far from Stratford upon avon, we decided to visit the places where the most famous author lived. The house and gardens are lovely and the staff very friendly. We enjoyed the description and the stories.

A visit to Anne Hathaway's cottage on a very rainy February day was sufficient to stir the romance in the hardest of souls. The guides were very helpful and knowledgeable. The story of Shakespeare's courtship of Anne and the ability to see the house in its original form was good value. The cost per adult for an entrance to this... More

I think we were lucky to visit on a sunny winter's day. There were very few people which I imagine would not be true in summer. Consequently, we were able to wander around the cottage at our leisure and really soak in the atmosphere of this wonderful old building. Much larger and more impressive gardens that I expected and, as... More

The guides were very knowledgeable and happy to provide visitors with lots of information about the house and the family. The gardens are not at their best in winter however the house makes up for that!
