Wylam Brewery pale ale
Oct 2021 • Friends
My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping down Percy Street when we chanced upon The Hotspur Pub and what a great find.
This is a traditional pub ,the interior is superb, dark wood features, a cute looking serving bar, pubby decor and furnishings, tv's to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, all in all its a great pub to unwind in.
We were here on a Monday night, pub was busy with a great atmosphere, we had a study of their real ale's and we both opted to have pale ale's from Wylam Brewery, these were served in excellent condition, we settled down and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub.
My pale ale was really good, a well balanced pale ale, a delicate aroma, a big hit of hops and on a really hot night a totally refreshing real ale.
We both gave a big thumbs up to this ale and this pub before moving on to the next pub, not yo far actually as we went The Percy Arms Pub.
The Hotspur Pub is easy to locate along Percy Street, a street and area teeming with pubs, bars and restaurants.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Thursday, Midday till 11pm.
Friday & Saturday, Midday till 11 45pm.
Sunday, Midday till 11pm.
A wonderful pub, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Great pub not far from the GNR finish line. Plenty of space and cool outdoor area. Quickly served and a very vibrant atmosphere.

Traditional Old Pub On Percy Street.
Sep 2021 • Friends
The Hotspur Hotel is a traditional pub that offers a superb food and drinks range and was one of the many pub's we went to on a six day city break to Newcastle.
Located on Percy street'the Hotspur Hotel was established in 1892 the same year that Newcastle United were founded.
With a traditional pub exterior with vintage lamps and a fantastic pub sign which gives this pub an old world look and feel.
The inside of the Hotspur Hotel is fantastic with exposed brick wall's and superb wood panelling and stained glass windows and it has superb seating options throughout the whole pubs interior.
We visited here late in the evening and this pub was fairly busy. When here we decided to have a few pint's of Wylam brewery Pale ale a superb local ale which where superb and well priced.
The Hotspur Hotel is a very popular pub in Newcastle and is well worth visiting and so easy to find from Haymarket bus station or metro stop it's a short walk.(This is my first review of the Hotspur Hotel).

Covidiot staff member drove his car down an extended path designed to keep the public safe by allowing them to practice social distancing, blocking this whole path.

Worth a visit
Aug 2020 • Couples
We called in for a drink and were very pleased with what we experienced. Tables were cleaned as soon as people left and as soon as you arrived you were directed to a table that was ready for drinkers.
Micheal worked very hard, making sure everyone was ok for drinks. It is table service only and you were not kept waiting for service. There was plenty of social distancing and they are certainly on top of sanitising. Well done.

Relaxed atmosphere
Feb 2020 • Couples
The last time I visited the Hotspur in 1993 the bar was designed very different yet the modern day changes compliment the new look bar. The staff were ace and took the time to discuss the history of the pub.

Drinks
Oct 2019 • Couples
Called in after shopping trip. Beer and lager were good. Comfy seats, very clean pub. Handy for bus station and metro, though leave plenty of time to get across the busy road outside.

Super tasty food
Sep 2019 • Couples
Called in for a drink and lunch as we were in the area.
I ordered the Hunters Stew, what a very tasty dish, savoured every mouthful, my friend had the Cottage pie, we both loved the food , attentive bar maid and beer.
If you want a home cooked snack, this is the place to go, if you are really hungry, order a double portion.

Beer is poorly kept. Measures suspect, keep an eye on the line in your pint glass. Choose from the cans in the fridge.

Who did you speak to at the bar to register your dissatisfaction? That’s right nobody but your happy post your views here (coward) the beer and ale are kept perfectly as our Cask Marqué cert verifies every year. There are no lines on the pint glasees so your observations are suspect and I won’t even comment on the short measuring. The upside of this and it’s a big one is you won’t be coming back Yeepie !!!
