Great night out at the Peoples Theatre x
Oct 2021
Great visit last night to the People's Theatre to see Blackadder 11 - an excellent performance with many laughs - very impressive acting by all involved especially Blackadder and Queenie.
This was a socially distanced night where most of the audience wore masks and the staff were excellent in ensuring a clean, covid safe environment.
The bar and foyer area is very nice, light and airy with lovely art work to walls.
Maybe a larger selection of drinks would be good as limited but understandable in these strange times! We look forward to our return x

Great shows exhibiting artistic skill and great value for money. An amateur theatre second to none! A gem!

Awful. I have been to a lot of pantos over the years and I have to say this was the most awful one I have been to. Took my granddaughter for our girls night out! After 10 minutes she wanted to go. She was bored rigid. The singing was out of tune. The dancers were out of sync. They had mismatched outfits and shoes. If I was the mother of the youngsters dancing I would be asking for my money back because they are wasting their money. The jokes were aimed at an adult audience and children would obviously not understand them. No enthusiasm whatsoever in the cast it was like they were reading from a script. Could not wait for the interval to walk out and we were not the only ones to do this. Overall disappointing and amateur production. Never again!

What can I say, this production was amazing , we were gripped throughout!!! We didn’t expect so many actors, but I can’t praise this play enough. We had an amazing night bringing Catherine Cooksons story to light. Thank you to all those amazing actors.

Great venue for a night out
Apr 2019 • Couples
Been here several times, last night went to see the importance of being Earnest. Can't fault the enthusiastic cast, they were great and have been every performance I have seen to date. Great access since the refurbishment, lovely clean venue and well priced drinks and ice cream at the intervals. Lovely friendly staff. The cast are great and really throw themselves into the roles, we had such a laugh last night, a well executed and lively performance. Brilliant. Tickets are really good value, you can buy online, choose your seats, really easy. If you have not been to live theatre before give this lovely little place a try. We now live a 40 minute drive away but still go back.

A new space ;a great tribute ...

To commemorate Holocaust Remeberance day the Peoples theatre and Jewish Players , put on a free performance of Kindertransport by Helen Samuels ; there were free performances in the newly refurbished foyer area . It was an intimate and comfortable venue. The play , directed by Hugh Keegan , was simply and very effectively set in the round. With minimum props and furniture , the actors cleverly wove the tale of Eva and the adult Evelyn . The cast did a great job , everyone was commited and passionate in their sharing of the story .
It was a delight , and the foyer space was perfect for this piece .
Congratulations to everyone involved ; thank you a wonderful story beautifully told xx

I saw Trainspotting there and it was a brilliant production in every way. Performances were spot on and technical aspects handled really well including video feeds.

Excellent community theatre
May 2018
Beautiful building. Volunteer run theatre that produces excellent plays - huge variety and always well executed. I attend regularly and have never been disappointed. To show the range, their two latest productions were Trainspotting and The 39 Steps. If you want an entertaining evening at the theatre but don't want to break the bank this is the place to come!
Always very welcoming, lovely foyer bar for drinks or coffee before the show. Be careful of parking in the street - residents only close to the theatre but plenty of street parking a short walk away. There is disabled parking and since the refurbishment (which is on-going) the theatre is easily accessible.

First visit since this venue was updated. A lot of money been spent on the bar area, allowing much better use of the space. Auditorium a bit warm but the play was excellent, good night out and not as expensive as the mainstream theatre.
