From beginners to regulars!
May 2021 • Friends
My friend and I joined the climbing centre as beginners in October. We booked the introductory course to teach us how to climb and belay safely. It was really good and taught us everything we needed to know.
Since then we’ve made climbing one of our regular hobbies, usually going once a week. The amount of different climbs available makes it really fun and challenging. Their prices are good value for money, especially when booking a pass or punch card. The staff are always so friendly and you can tell they take safety seriously. If you’re wanting to take up climbing, this is the place!

Taster climbing for kids
Aug 2020 • Family
Tremendous session - Richard inspired our kids (and us) with a fantastic climbing session. 2 kids, one hour (which drifted over in a relaxed way), only £30...

Our kids haven’t really done climbing before- except the odd clip and climb- Richard carefully introduced them to various routes, emphasising the fun and giving them the chance to learn at the pace that they wanted- as well as appreciate some of the challenges with climbing.

There was a clear plan to minimise the risk of virus - with lots of hand washing built into the routine!

A special mention to Richard- who is obviously very good at dealing with kids - treating them with right level of respect - and allowing them to learn at a pace which suited them.

Thank you for this- I suspect it will lead to many more family climbing trips...

Climbers Top Venue & Club
Nov 2019
This place is great - full stop. The venue is really good for a climbing centre, being based in an old church, thus having a very high roof space. The team at the centre are great - always helpful and very supportive. Our young son has been now going for Saturday morning climbing club for over a year now, which works really well as part of his weekly sporting activities Bonus points - good coffee and background music choice; slight challenge - can be cold in winter for non climbers (parents) {but is an old church}, just wear a good jumper and a hat. We also held our son's birthday party here for his pals - really good afternoon. I anticipate our family will be using this venue for years to come.

Another Great Visit
Jan 2020
The climbing centre is based in a former church in Byker, Newcastle, with easy access to parking and public transport. This time our two teenage nephews were having a taster event at the centre under the tuition of Sam, who is a brilliant climbing coach.

The facilities at the centre offer everything, from something for those new to climbing, through to challenging indoor walls (and ceiling) for the experts.

We hope to be back soon!

Friendly Professional Climbing Centre
Jun 2019 • Family
Staff at the climbing center are always happy to help and great fun and very patient with the kids. I bring my kids to the holiday clubs and they love it. There's a small cafe, viewing area, kit shop, bouldering area and the main walls have regular route changes. There are top ropes, auto belays and opportunities for lead climbing. Changing rooms, showers & lockers. They point on regular events and activities. Highly recommendable.

I live for climbing up walls as it brings me back to my childhood running from the police and intend to continue the tradition with my children, my favourite pastime with my EX-husband (Eric)whereas we are divorced now because he had an affair with his sisters friend. However the hand pockets are a bit dusty

Brilliant climbing session with two adults and 3 kids (6, 9 and 11). Sam (and other staff) was really friendly and helpful. The facilities were in good condition and there are loads of routes. Good selection of bouldering, belayed and auto-belay routes. Being in an old church means the ceiling’s really high and the windows are rather beautiful too.
100% recommended

Taster Session
Apr 2019
Myself and my son really enjoyed our taster session, Sam our instructor was brilliant, very calm, explained everything and even had us tying our own knots (which he checked of course). I would recommend a visit to anyone of any age and ability, I am sure they will be welcomed to the Centre. We will definitely be making another visit some time soon.

DISGUSTING way to treat a long standing and loyal customer.
Nov 2018 • Friends
My friend sees my sensitive information on one of the climbing centre’s unattended computer screens, he tells me and I take a look. I saw what looked like a customer account and in the notes, I saw what looked like libellous information. I submit a Subject Access Request to the manager, which wasn't responded to within the 40 day minimum statutory period and so I raise a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office and also advise them of the data breach. As a result of my exercising my rights under the Data Protection Act 1998/GDPR 2018, I have been banned from the climbing centre indefinitely.

I have been a loyal customer, literally since day 1. I have introduced many people to the sport over the last 15-20 years, many off whom are now regular customers of NCC and ALL of my gear (any much of those I've introduced) has been bought from the shop at NCC.

As a professional photographer, I've even done favours for the management to help with promotional material in the early days of NCC's business, much of this material is still being used.

Absolutely appalling attitude towards a long lasting and loyal customer.
