Guided City Walking Tour of Newcastle

The tour offers more sights than some other tours of the beautiful city of Newcastle. On it you will hear about the history of the city from the Iron Age to present day, and also about some of the city's more interesting characters.

The tour is less than 4km, does include some steps, and some uneven pavement.

Please come prepared according to the weather forecast for that day.

In the event of bad weather, please contact me through the message option here on TripAdvisor to see if the tour is still going ahead. Weather cancellations will be very rare.

I have unfortunately done all the rooms here! I wish there was more. Dead mans hand - did with my bestie. Found it REALLY difficult but loved the setting/mag locks/intuitiveness. This was when I had done maybe 5 escape rooms. First contact - definitely one for the veterans. Did this with my boyfriend (and every room following) We found the room super difficult and just needed a hint for everything. Witchcraft and wizardry - LOVED it. Lovely design, soundtrack, clue system, theming. Got stuck a few times but felt well looked after and was never bored or frustrated. The cabin - we came back to this after doing a LOT of other rooms. Loved the puzzles (Damn you arrow puzzle) and the theme. Not “scary” at all, I expected a scary/spooky room from the description but was more “warm log cabin” vibes. Contagion - fantastic, best and most “fun” room we did here as a couple. Great puzzle design, linear progression and felt higher tech. Overall we have loved our experiences here, our games masters have always been knowledgeable and had a laugh with us before and after. I wish they had more rooms as we are truly addicted. We may have done a lot of escape rooms but we’re still AWFUL at them! The clue system is always helpful and comes just at the right time. Can’t wait for future rooms and we will be booking in straight away :)

A friend and I did the First Contact room which is based on the movie Predator. The puzzles are badly written and have very little structure, everything just seemed really random with no order or linear progression. Even the setting of the room was really basic and unimpressive. If you put me inside the room with no context, I would have absolutely no idea what the theme of the room is supposed to be. Our game operator Cyril (sorry for spelling) was friendly and welcoming, although when asking for clues, instead of giving us a hint and letting us work things out for ourselves, he just explained the whole puzzle to us? He had no idea where we were at in the game as he (by his own admission) does not listen to the microphones inside the room. This would have been handy so he could have tailored his hints to where we were at, but instead he just told us exactly what to do, step by step, which was super disappointing. We have done lots of rooms so just small hints would have sufficed. I have done around 20 rooms as well as worked in 2 and this is one of the worst I have ever been to. A huge let down, I would definitely not recommend Escape Newcastle.

Went last Saturday with a group of a stag do. Problem solving, clue finding and banging our heads together. A great way to spend an hour with the lads and escape, guess what... we did.

5 of us did the 'Contagion' escape room and it was so fun! Having never done it at Escape Newcastle, I had no idea what to expect, but it was great! The game itself requires logic, skill and teamwork, but no prior experience is needed. The clues came up on a screen when we were a little stuck, which was so simple, yet effective. A great way to celebrate the end of the year. Will definitely have to come back here to try the other games!
