Been here twice now and enjoyed the concerts. Only thing I can really complain about is the price of the drinks. About £4 a pint (very expensive up North). Presumably a converted... read more

I recently saw Fun Lovin Criminals at the Academy, Newcastle and it was the ideal venue for this type of band. Staff were pleasant, place was clean. I didn't purchase drinks so can't comment on bar except to say two bars either side of room are very handy and concert goers didn't seem to wait long to be served. Several... More

Enjoyed a great gig here but the toilets were disgusting and the drinks seemed very overpriced. I appreciate its difficult for staff at a venue thats so busy and has a captive audience but i would avoid drinking too much or going to the bathroom if possible.

There's no doubt that the o2s Friday event (DirtyPop) attracts university students and other people between the age of 18-25, so if that's your kind of crowd you'll love it. The music is great and you'll end up listening to quite a wide variety of music, instead of your typical top40 tracks. The drinks are a reasonable price and the... More

Over rough Bouncers physically attacked a girl next to me, my wife and I. Immediately called the police who were great. Unsure of what happened to the staff but when Tee-Total people ask simple questions to the door staff, you don't expect to end up being assaulted. Don't know if they had a busy night or what. Would advise anyone... More

Whilst this show was faultless, the venue was awful! It was freezing cold and I wish I had brought a jacket. To add to the misery, the chairs were like something out of a school hall which were hard and uncomfortable and left me with back ache. The toilets and lighting leave a lot to be desired and it feels... More

I have been attending the o2 Newcastle for many years and have seen a number of bands here. The place is gradually getting worse to the point where you have to hold your breath when you go to the toilet. I attended a Rock Legends night on Sat 18 December 2015 and really enjoyed the music side of things. The... More

I've been to the O2 Academy, Newcastle many, many times to see a huge range of musical genres over the years and have seen some incredible bands and enjoyed the vast majority of gigs and club nights. Extortionately priced drinks, filthy toilets, and a poorly maintained building in desperate need of refurbishment are things you come to accept if you... More

Rude, shouty security. Overpriced beer and inefficient bar. Manky toilets. Good band though. Would probably consider another venue in future if possible.

Been here twice now and enjoyed the concerts. Only thing I can really complain about is the price of the drinks. About £4 a pint (very expensive up North). Presumably a converted cinema/theatre so can imagine it gets a bit crowded.

Visited here for a few years now for all kinds of bands and music, and it is definitely one of the better venues in the area. Yes it's a bit grotty in parts and the drinks are way overpriced, but if you want an up close gig where you can get a good view of the stage then this is... More
