About
The Tyne Bar has been a mainstay of the Newcastle pub scene since November 1994, when it helped to kickstart the cultural renaissance of the city's Ouseburn Valley. Building on the legacy of pubs like The Barley Mow and The Egypt Cottage, on nearby City Road, the pub boasts free live music events, craft beers, artisan coffee, food promos, a free jukebox and the legendary beer garden beneath the bridge.

    Amazing!!!
Called in today for a drink and decided to have food. Normally the Shwarma platter is my go to but decided instead to try the Korean Chicken Rice bowl. OMG it was AMAZING. Thought Shwarma was good but this Rice bowl was another level. Will deffo be back. Hubby also enjoyed his Cottage pie. 😁

Had a very unpleasant greeting with one of the bar members who wrongfully claimed I was “slagging her off” to my friends after I had been ID’d, when in fact I was joking to my friend saying how I take it as a compliment to me still looking young. She proceeded to embarrass me infront of the whole bar raising her voice and claiming I won’t get my drink even though I tried to explain how she must’ve misunderstood what I’d been saying. I’ve never been spoken to by a member of staff so disrespectfully before and with this only being the start of my night was let down as I no longer wanted to stay there. It’s a shame as I was really looking forward to having some drinks and food as from first looks it looked good.

This was the second time we had stopped off at this pub whilst walking the dog. It is a great pub with a big outside area.
I went inside to get drinks and grab a menu. The staff are friendly and chatty. We found a table outside and then ordered food. I had the chicken shawarma platter (single) with a side of beef chilli cheesy chips. She had the fish goujon wrap with a side of sweet potato fries.
The food arrived quickly and was absolutely gorgeous.
I can't recommend this place highly enough and will most definitely be going again and again.

Absolute disgrace. Just visited this establishment as a group of 14 having emailed to pre warn them and them replying telling us to just turn up, to be asked to leave because they don’t serve groups in fancy dress (we are a hen party with Disney t-shirts on). When asked why we wouldn’t be served, the abrupt barman said that we were disrespectful. At no point did any of the group say anything to him, and simply asked how we go about ordering drinks. You would think, on a Monday afternoon after such hard times that a venue would welcome good trade!!! There was absolutely no reason what so ever for this member of staff to reject our custom. Extremely poor customer service and we will not be back!

We chose this to be the first place we visited on arriving for a few days in Newcastle and weren’t disappointed. It was a really sunny day and with loads of outdoor space it was perfect to sit and have a few pints. We also had some food too which was great. Highly recommend the place and the set up is very good from a Covid perspective too!!

This time was super annoyed at some drunk woman aggressively throwing a ball for a dog, hitting people with the ball and smacking others in the face with her hand as she was throwing. When comments made to staff not taken seriously. Not acceptable.

We are very sorry that we have fallen short of your expectations on this occasion. We know the dog concerned and even though we pride ourselves on being a dog friendly pub we appreciate that throwing a ball indoors is not acceptable. And we will be asking the owner to stop. If you’d like further clarification please feel free to email me at fred@thetyne.com.

Only popped in for a quick pint but an excellent pint and the smell and appearance of passing food made us stay for something to eat. I had a surprisingly good Chicken Milanese with a really good salad and my husband had a burger which he rated. It's cosy inside and the staff were friendly and obliging. We'd definitely go back and eat there again.

This spot is a favourite of mine and I have been visiting for many years now. We head here on our motorbikes and pull up right outside. The selection of beers is excellent and the service is always on point. This bar gets a crowd in, and the food offering is decent too. Worth a stop, if you're in the area.
