Great pub.
Oct 2021 • Friends
My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping around this part of town when we chanced upon The Town Wall Pub and what a great find.
Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, a great interior, pubby decor and furnishings, a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, tv's to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub,its a wonderful chill out pub.
We were greeted with a smile by a very pleasant member of the bar team, we ordered Wylam Brewery pale ale, served in pristine condition, we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub.
My pale ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced pale ale, a big hit of hops, hints of toffee and a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a slight bitter finish to it, a classic British pale ale, on a hot afternoon a totally refreshing brew.
We really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to The Town Wall Pub we were totally impressed.
The Town Wall Pub is easy to locate along Pink Lane.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Thursday, Midday till 11pm.
Friday & Saturday, Midday till 1am.
Sunday, Midday till 11pm.
A great pub ,most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area .

Food good, service VERY poor.
Feb 2020 • Couples
Could of been 5* as the food was delicious, Sunday dinner absolutely spot on. HOWEVER
Me and my partner went here for food and a couple of drinks. The food took ages to come and the service was so bad!

All the staff seem to think that they are better than you, we’ve never been to a place where we felt the entire staff but were so rude and hostile, apart from one who was a delight in comparison.

That bar man is very tall, has long hair (tied up) and long beard. He wore a checked shirt.

Everyone else’s attitude was just diabolical especially this one lady who had long blond pony tail wearing a floral black dress ( I think she had a nose ring).
She was unbelievably ridiculously rude! After we ordered food she came and not placed the cutlery box but dropped it and walked off with no word. Then she came over took our plates away, AGAIN no word, no sound, never asked how our food was, never even looked or acknowledged. We actually had some food left and she never asked ONCE if we were finished, really? How snooty do you have to be?
I know they were closing early today for their annual Xmas party, so she was probably just clamming for the night out and just wanted us out.

I almost forgot there was also another lady who for some reason decide to literally chuck a chair next to my partner when we were in the middle of eating, she could of said “I’ll just pop this chair back” politely without chucking it.

I was even considering to have dessert but, nah. Had enough of the service.

What a way to make people feel so uncomfortable when having their dinner.
I can imagine these type of staff members when reading this will just laugh and think they’ve done nothing wrong, but this is a very viable complaint.

This may sound like I’m nit picking but seriously, MANNERS COST NOWT !

Long wait!
Dec 2019
Had lunch here with friends today. A 45 minute wait for food is simply too long. The place was not busy. Also we sat with used crockery etc for 30 minutes after the meal
Staff were v pleasant
The food we had was good
An amazing amount of dust on the lampshades. Not the sort of thing I normally look for but the low winter sun makes this obvious. The question it raises for me is if I can see the dust in the public areas how clean is the kitchen

Our Christmas meal outing finished with a round of drinks here. Lovely decoration, most drinks catered for. Comfortable spaces for conversations. What’s not to like?

Christmas shopping lunch
Nov 2019
Just had our lunch at The Town Wall following a morning of Christmas shopping in Newcastle city centre. The food was amazing! We had the pork rib with apple sauce, mash and vegetables and the Char Sui jack fruit bao buns- both were delicious, well cooked, well seasoned and really good value. We would definitely recommend this place. We also had double Hepple gin and tonic to wash it all down, which was great. Service and staff were good, toilets clean and lovely atmosphere-you should give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Dog friendly and Nice selection of ale
Mar 2019 • Couples
First of all: dog friendly! Big tick in our box. Staff were friendly towards the dog and kindly offered a bowl of water straight away.

Drinks were great. Helpful barman offered a taster of some ales after recommending a few fruity ale I might like. Great selections and some really tasty house white wine.

Really Nice atmosphere.

Would be 5 star for drinks but unfortunately the tables were filthy. They have little routered cracks in the table (as part of the design). But they were full of left over food and dirt, pretty minging really. Nevertheless, a great watering hole. Just give the tables a decent clean! :)

Shocking price!!
Mar 2019 • Friends
Town Wall is a favourite post match place for a pint and has been for many years. After the match yesterday we made our way there as usual and saw that the hand pull beers were now relocated to the left of the main bar and in their place was a prominent 3 tap Wylam Brewery fitment. This is the "main bar" area and post match is very busy. People seeing these new taps are tempted to order these beers. WARNING two of them cost £9 and £9.50 a pint!!!!! It was only when one of the bar staff pointed this out that we were aware of the price. No where on the main price board are they listed. How many fans were duped into paying these prices? Please play fair and have prices on the pumps. Will still be coming to Town Walls as a great place but please play fair. Shocking price !!

I Think Sunday roast my be the best ever.
Jul 2018 • Family
I’ve been coming here since COCO V’s , drinks are varied from soft drinks, coffees and the large array of spirits lagers and ales. The decor is a bit shabby chic but very well maintained.
My family have eaten here a few times for there nicely not over over priced nor over populated menu. But Sunday lunch is what we’re here for and it’s now our favourite Sunday lunch ever, this place is always busy with reserved tables as a regular observation.
We placed our order at the bar along with our drinks and the server was very polite and quick to serve.
We waited about 25 mins for our food to arrive with it being a Sunday and busy it’s probably about the rite amount of time to wait but it was well worth the wait. We ordered 3 lamb diners all portion were very ample very impressive too. Apart from asking for a gravy boat , it doesn’t matter were you go there is never enough gravy for my family. The accompanying condiments and cutlery were presented on our table by the food server. We couldn’t wait. On the plate were whole carrot, Savoy cabbage,French beans, turnip,3 large roast potatoes, large Yorkshire pudding and gravy. The gravy was not bisto gravy it was a well flavour. The vegetables were perfectly cooked not over cooked like a few places I’ve been too. The lamb was perfectly cooked slight pink just how it should be. I actually couldn’t wait to finish it off it was so tasty, I like a good portion this was a good portion. Very tasty , fresh, and great value for money we spent £37 for three adult Sunday lunch and three soft drinks.
Thanks to the kitchen staff for a fantastic Sunday lunch keep the good work up.
