Never been to a match until now and had to wander into the strawberry for one last beer before the start. Glad I did. It reminded me of a busy bar in Boston and felt like was home. Even though it was packed I got...More

We found the people managing this pub to be very intolerant of incapacitated people. On a visit to this pub at the end of January 2019, my husband turned the car off the main road, on to the lane to the side of the Strawberry,...More

Thank you for your version of events from Thursday 24th January approx 11:15am. I only feel it fair to clarify some of the salient points. 1) Your car was stopped on the corner of the junction, not the lane. The road (Strawberry lane) leads to...More

We went here on a Sunday to kill some time before food. My brother likes to go here when he's in the city. Staff were very friendly, plenty of seats and memorabilia on the walls.

Even though I’m not a Newcastle fan I love this pub. It’s a proper home fans pub, lots of memorabilia on the walls and a great atmosphere. The most impressive thing is however that despite it being massively busy, there are loads of bar staff...More

Right beside St James Park, its a football bar but not the violent grubby places that are beside other football grounds, this is a very friendly (always opposition fans in mingling with Newcastle fans) with lots of football memorabilia on the walls. a famous haunt...More

Thank you so much for your great review of the strawberry pub. Some people seem to focus and comment on the negatives at any venue. Always great to receive praise and then pass it on to the staff. much appreciated. michael

I am not a Toon fan, so have never been here on a match day. But I often call in Sunday nights with a few mates. Staff very friendly, can't do enough for us. Decent jukebox, with plenty decent Punk and metal stuff on. Been...More

Situated a goal kick away from St James Park this is a must visit for any football fan but especially for a Newcastle fan as it is a shrine to the Toon Army ! There are reasonable priced bar snacks and more importantly some well...More

Andy, Unless you're wearing a Sunderland shirt, I've never known the Strawberry to be a necessarily hostile pub for away fans but that's if those away fans respect where they're drinking and what the Strawberry is to NUFC... More
