Newcastle needs more of this!
This was defo a class night of eating. Mainly went to try the rib sandwich with holy fukc sauce and it didn't disappoint at all. Was a bit crammed tho, too many people for my liking haha but good none the less

Fantastic tasty street food!
Oct 2013
A brilliant evening of street food and cocktails in the heart of Newcastle. We started with monkfish cheeks and spiced cauliflower fritters from The Broad Chare stall. Their crispy pigs ears had sold out! Then we sampled some amazing pork buns from Miss Pla's Asian kitchen along with a spicy chicken salad. All washed down with a Negroni cocktail from the Travelling Gin man and later a sweeter bubblegum vodka Martini from Purl cocktails. Husband liked his nicely bitter pints from Wylam brewery. We saved the best for last - a paper cone of little Florentine doughnuts with a freshly made raspberry jam and chant illy cream from Helen at the Broad Chare stall . Scrumptious!

Pricy, crammed but can be worth going

We went there on Saturday well before the doors opened, which was good as we avoided most of the crazy rush. Even though, the place was packeg 3 minutes after it opened. We had some of the monkfish wraps (great stuff, the ginger salsa was some of the best stuff I ever had the pleasure of eating) and a scottish egg (was good, but overpriced in my book).
Two things sort of put me off: For one, Prices. Given the smallish portions, the prices were rather steep in my book. But food appears to be of great quality, and that's worth paying. And secondly the music. Nothing wrong with a good DJ, but put some kind of band / busker in there, and it would completely change the flair, improve it, at least to me.
We will definitely go back next year, as all in all it was interesting.

Gorgeous food, great venue.

A superb night, the food was all delicious and I sampled a monkfish wrap with ginger and tamarind salad, hot chilli seafood and cinnamon doughnuts with salted caramel dip. Prices average at around £5 a portion. Free entry though which is a bonus. Not many soft drinks available, I only saw one stall with sparkling water or ginger beer, choice very limited.

The queue was crazy when we left, probably around 500 yards long. This is definitely a good point as previous events have been so crammed with people that you couldn't move and your elbow was in someone's dinner! Just make sure to get there early if you don't want to queue for at least 45 minutes to get in.
