About
The Biscuit Factory is the UK’s largest independent commercial art, craft & design gallery set in the heart of Newcastle’s cultural quarter. Housed in a former Victorian warehouse, our beautiful gallery spaces are set over two floors and display a range of exciting contemporary fine art, sculpture, original prints and jewellery, quality craftsmanship and design led homewares. The Biscuit Factory hosts four major exhibitions a year, representing the work of around 250 artists each season, so there is always something new to see every time you visit.

- sandju201005Portsmouth, United Kingdom47 contributionsGreat findA great building filled with a range of artwork. It was free admission and a total delight to visit. I loved the variety of styles, materials and the range that was available to purchase. I would love to return to try one of the workshops that are advertised....would I visit again? A big yes!Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 6, 2023
- sheepygold5,479 contributionsA very enjoyable art gallery with an excellent cafeI haven't been inside this building for around 20 years when it housed an expensive restaurant. We had a light lunch in the cafe which was very good quality, decent portions and very good value. Following lunch we had a look at the artwork which was very varied with something that most people will find to enjoy but it did seem quite pricey.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 11, 2023
- Susanna0103Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom106 contributions“Martin, Eddie and Alex are Sunbeams in the Magnificent Biscuit Factory Universe”We spent a wonderful afternoon at the Biscuit Factory, discussing our favourite pictures then we went off to the Factory Kitchen for coffee, tea, cake, salads, scones and icecream. N.B. The Biscuit Factory has a fresh water dispenser and little jugs – a particularly thoughtful accoutrement. The staff accommodated our surprise party of 12 by pushing tables together in their simply gorgeous “Plant Room.” We looked out into the sunshine from the warmth of our conversation and were transported to another equally interesting world. This was a top rate experience that comes with lots of compliments from the “New North East New Friends” Meetup group. - James BlackEastbourne, United Kingdom490 contributionsSome improvement pointers….We ran a client event here. Staff a bit on the sniffy side but some couldn’t do enough for us. Food a bit pretentious (client feedback). But healthy and seasonal. Refreshments plentiful. Room a bit too cramped and hot for the numbers (heating system a tad keen). But an inspiring place in which to learn and we all parked out front for free. Some improvement pointers!Visited October 2023Traveled on businessWritten November 1, 2023
- Charlotte H39 contributionsBeautiful galleryBeautiful gallery, so many lovely pieces to browse. We spent a peaceful hour wandering around. The staff were really lovely and friendly. Free parking outside the gallery, but there are limited spaces. However on-street parking just outside is free for two hours, which is plenty of time to see the gallery. The food was really amazing. We had a scone and the soup and sandwich. Portions were generous and freshly made. Only criticism of the cafe is that there was a long wait for a table even when there were a lot of tables free. Seemed a bit too short-staffed to manage front of house service. They could have done with a server dedicated to queue management and table allocation.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 3, 2024
- BikkabessSt. Albans, United Kingdom107 contributionsInteresting findAn interesting find and worth a visit to see the various art and crafts available. Lots on offer and worth a detour. The goods are displayed over 2 floors with nooks and crannies to explore everything from pantings to sculpture, glass works to jewellery and more. Lots of works from many varied skilled craftspeople available to buy or just enjoy. No pressure and you can browse and enjoy. Often they have exhibits or 'shows'. Regrettably we just missed one.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten March 17, 2024
- Totoro27Morpeth, United Kingdom6 contributionsFantastic art space, great cafe!A lovely space to spend a couple of hours, a great range of art that seems to change quite frequently. A range of prices for most budgets, fine art originals and prints. jewellery, ceramics and homewares. The changing exhibition space on the landing is really lovely and showcases the art beautifully. The cafe food is truly fabulous and you can sit on a covered terrace with city views if the weather is favourable. Somewhere we will be visiting regularly!Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 27, 2024

It is truly an inspiring place to visit and their launch nights are a great opportunity to talk to exhibiting artists. There is street parking outside and an attached cafe. The artwork is beautifully displayed with quite a variety of mediums. Being a potter and dabbling in glass I appreciate the wide range of choices and price points to chose from.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 1, 2024

We visited the Biscuit Factory to attend a photoshoot for our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. This went very well and afterwards we spent some time looking at the gallery and its varied exhibits. These are very interesting and showcase the talents of a number of local artists. Various paintings, sketches, prints, ceramics, jewellery and more are all on display.

I walked to this old factory which now houses art pieces which are for sale. It's on two floors, so you only need 40 mins to an hour, depending on how intensely you view all the artefacts. Some items are reasonably priced but other art pieces are a bit more steep in price. Even the ladies toilets are a wonderful artistic experience!
There is a cafe upstairs but I did not need to visit this on this occasion.

Excellent gallery and very good Factory Kitchen. Not the cheapest venue but well worth visiting. After viewing the paintings and craft works, you can sample the Factory Kitchen for coffee or for quiche and baked potato-type food options. There are very interesting views from the upstairs coffee area, and if we ever had any good weather there is an outside patio area that would be fun. You'll get 2 coffees and a cake for about £10.00. Not too busy either. Seems like the sort of place to find retired social worker or retired teachers.

I defy anyone to visit this gallery and not find something they relate to or find interesting. I try and avoid the phrases 'I like/don't like' as it closes down debate. Usually there are artists from all corners of the UK. You can buy prints and there is even a pop up bookshop. Forum Books from Corbridge.

We enjoyed looking at all the art works - some amazing life-sized horse sculptures, but where would you put them? - before moving on to the cafe upstairs. It's in a great location with wonderful views, and an external seating area that's partly covered so you can be outside even on cold days. We had very nice fruit drinks, and my favourite, cake, a caramel chocolate brownie, which was really one of the best I've tasted. The staff were friendly and efficient, and we'll definitely go back next time we're in Newcastle.

Another of Newcastle's repurposed old buildings The Biscuit Factory is a base for artists to create and sell their work. Set over two floors with studios in the basement it is open light filled and airy. The art is of all types from ceramics through jewellery to original oils and limited edition prints - Im sure I've missed something out. It is also very reasonably priced and if you are used to usual big city pricing especially so.
On the first floor there is also a terrace restaurant/cafe which just makes the whole experience perfect.
If you are walkers, to get there by walking along the footpath along the River Ouseburn up from the Tyne to the Byker Bridge area makes it a very special day out.

Really lovely space with amazing art and gorgeous rooftop cafe. Lots of incredible ceramics, prints, furniture and jewellery…everything really! Some reasonably priced and others quite expensive. The gallery offers payment plans for some pieces if looking to invest. There is a gorgeous cafe at the top with a rooftop terrace which is glorious in the sunshine ! Partially covered if it’s not a sunny day. Would definitely recommend a visit here for art and a lovely lunch / coffee.

I love visiting this gallery. Interesting varied artworks and a lovely cafe. So nice to just wander round looking at the different art - paintings, jewellery, sculptures, wood, it has everything. Highly recommended - have bought sculptures by post and arrived perfect.
