The tour was very enjoyable as Tony and Simon (our guides for the afternoon) made it interesting and informative.

There was good attention to detail and the tour was very interactive for children and on a level that could be easily understood by them. Needs of the group were taken into account and both guides considered the personalities of the children when doing activities. The guides were knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile to find out things if needed.

We would definitely recommend this tour for families with children aged 6 to 15 years and to adults of all ages.

Visited the tour today with 2 children and my father. The tour itself was fantastic, very interactive and my eldest daughter in particular enjoyed it. However I feel a special mention needs to be made regarding the staff who run the tour. Both of the tour guides made this tour fun and enjoyable for everyone. Unfortunately my son became unwell on the tour and the guide Tony was fantastic. He made sure he was well cared for and as my son was upset he was unwell, he organised for us to visit again when he was feeling better. He then followed our visit up with a phonecall and email to reassure us this was all sorted out. He really went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and this was very much appreciated. We can’t wait to come back!

Elliot our son absolutely loves all things television....... he was delighted when we found the BBC Tours.

Jordy and Victoria were first class tour guides, their knowledge of the BBC was spot on and made it fun and enjoyable for all the family!

Thank You

Just a shame other sites have a age 9 restriction, Elliot is gutted to have to wait!

Hello Vicky Thank you so much for taking the time to write us a lovely review, we appreciate it hugely. So happy to hear Elliot loved his trip to see our studio's and that our team made the day all what he had hoped for. Jordy and Victoria will be delighted to read such lovely words, so thanks on behalf of your guides too. BBC tours obviously want all our sites to get such positive feedback, just like this, for each tour we host; hence why other sites have differing ages etc. All decisions are carefully made with the best interests of our guest firmly in mind, as I'm sure you can imagine. We love how the BBC is here for everyone, so we do our best to make our tours as 'open to all' as we possibly can do. Myself and all our management teams at each tour location, consider all that their individual site's tour(s) have to offer our guests and then we make a judgement call on the "best fit" age range for our tour(s). We do this in hope that we ensure most of our guests will all be able to get involved with all interactive activities (if they choose too), enjoy the delivery of the tour especially the educational information and ultimately and most importantly enjoy their visit. So although Elliot is 'chomping at the bit' to see more, which we love! if he can wait I promise when he gets to the next tour it will be a much better experience for him. Thank you once more for your visit, please do spread the word, and we hope to see you and Elliot again one day. Don't forget Tours make for great birthday parties! Tony

Hi Philip, Thank you for your visit and for your great review too! Simon and I along with the whole team at BBC Tours Newcastle love hearing that our guests have enjoyed such a great time. I wonder, have any of the interactive experiences made any of your family feel that their careers now lie in broadcasting? We hope so! Please help us by spreading the word if you could, we'd hugely appreciate it! Hope to see you again Thanks once more, Tony

When we first entered the Newcastle BBC Studios we were kindly greeted by a member of staff and given special back stage passes to visit the past and future of BBC. The activities were very enjoyable and I especially liked when I got the chance to actually read a news report. Thank you to the staff for being very welcoming and and informative and I hope I have the chance to visit again in the future.

I visited here with a group of 18 people aged 8 to 95. Fantastic-all of us felt included, involved, educated and entertained. Two young enthusiastic and informative people took us round we looked at the history of BBC Newcastle, and discussed characters we recognised and remembered. We visited the weather and traffic studio, and the holy of holy's the Look North studio. We sat on the seats and discussed with amazement the organisation of all the bulletins and news programmes. The different shows that come from the same studio-wow. We saw 'back stage' we also sat in the control room we and went into the library. WONDERFUL TOUR. The piece de resistance, we made our own programme string our magical 8 yr old and the weather has never been delivered with such aplomb before our 95 yr old took charge!
Outstanding delightful and excellent value. The only gripe was the Post code on the website guided our sat nav to the centre of Newcastle, it hasn't been that post code since the new building was built 25 years ago! Please BBC change it as apparently a lot of people get lost! A small grizzle that had NOTHING to do with the tour itself which was exemplary.

Booked this tour as a Birthday treat. Four of us went. We were greeted by our tour guide, Tony , who was fantastic!!!. So helpful and friendly, he really knows his stuff, can tell he enjoys his work. We were shown the archives, shown all around the studios, sat at the "Look North" desk and on the sofa. Were allowed to take photos, took part in a "mock-up" play, really funny.Husband had a go at reading the weather forecast . It was really interesting to see what actually happens "behind the scenes" usually just switch on and take for granted. Looking for something different, would highly recommend this tour, also very reasonably priced. Well done to all involved.

Went here as a family including my 9 year old. It was a great 90 minutes of hearing some of the history of BBC Newcastle, delving into the archives, then getting a chance to be in the studio during a radio broadcast (and ending up on air!!), making our own news, sport, weather broadcast and then sitting in the areas where the local news is transmitted and all local input is coordinated.

We loved it. It was all very interesting with great tour guides and was excellent value at around a total cost of £20 for 3 of us. Free BBC Newcastle lanyards on leaving and just generally a feeling of having done something different that was very enjoyable. They only do tours around 3 days a week but look on their website for more details. There is plenty of free parking on site on a Saturday, otherwise a 10 minute walk from St James Metro.

Try it!

Booked this as a summer holiday activity and all the group (3 adults and 3 children aged 7-11) had a fab time! Was so interesting and interactive for both adults and children. Have to say, the tour guides (Simon and Tony) really made it special and were very warm and friendly. We were all pleasantly surprised as sometimes you can do these tours and it’s evident the guides don’t really care. These two lads obviously love their jobs and were great at engaging everyone. It was pitched just right so that it was accessible for the kids and the adults weren’t bored or patronised. We are already planning to come again with other friends and their children!

Hi Wow! What a really lovely review, we cant thank you enough for your kind words. All the team here at BBC Newcastle, not just the tours team, love hearing such positive reviews from our audience so I will be sure to share this with the whole station. When you come again you will see we only have a few good jokes, so please practice your "canned laughter" and don't finish our jokes :-) Thanks again Tony
