At the Tyneside Cinema, we give a trip to the pictures the sense of occasion it deserves. We show the best films in stylish and beautiful surroundings, and our varied programme ranges from brilliant films from all over the world to the best Hollywood has to offer. As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design.

Had the pre-'theatre' dinner deal here on saturday night. All-veggie menu (a revelation for my veggie mates) was very tasty. Tofu salad with lovely dressing and beetroot felafel with sourdough just right. The small cinema (on 3rd floor) provided a very pleasant change from the cramped Odeon-type conditions. With only three rows of full size living room-style seats, the setting... More

Lovely every time I visit here. Amstel on tap is always a winner for me, occasionally check in on a film when here the latest being Bridget Jones. Atmosphere is very friendly and nothing ever seems to much trouble for the staff, very relaxing.

If you want to watch a film on a cinema screen, I would always choose the Tyneside over empire or odeon etc. Small, friendly, intimate and a cute little alcohol/sweet bar at the front of the screen (although the sweets are highly over priced similar to a chain cinema). The beers are very reasonably priced.

Went here recently for a showing of the BFG, and have been before. As opposed to the mulitplexes with the faceless entrance and the popcorn counter that seems to do everything, this was more quirky and features a couple of proper cafes. This time we were in the topfloor cinema - there are 4 - although previously have been in... More

I've visited Tyneside Cinema many times over years. I am so glad we have this attraction in Newcastle - it is something of a survivor in these times when its easier to watch films on videos or laptops etc. It has a great variety of films, seven days a week & especially specializes in films from France or other European... Been a member for couple of years after kids bought membership for a present. Lovely cinema, unlike soulless multiplex. Also does great food and drink, try it.

i go to the silver screen here which is an over 60's cinema with talk after. There are lots of cinema experiences on offer plus the usual up to date films to see. Along with cafes on 2 floors.

I've been using this charming cinema for years now and watched it grow from a haven for arthouse and independent film to a home for the complete film experience. In fact, 'a night out at the flicks' with accompanying food & drink. If your tastes are the traditional, old movie going experience, well this is Newcastle's cinema heartland with 4... More

In general the food was a little bland and somewhat expensive. I had the Seafood Linguine with two fingers of salmon, two king prawns and three mussels.
