At the Tyneside Cinema, we give a trip to the pictures the sense of occasion it deserves. We show the best films in stylish and beautiful surroundings, and our varied programme ranges from brilliant films from all over the world to the best Hollywood has to offer. As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design.

I much prefer this to the corporate style rip off places that just want to empty your wallet. The seats are big and comfy and it just feels nicer. It may not have the range of films of a multiplex but I will still come when u get the chance

I had a night coach to London to catch (quite late in the night) nearby so I decided to kill sometime and go watch a movie. I am glad I did because the cinema was very interesting. There were some panels explaining the history of the cinema since its birth and also there was a cafe (very small but with... More

The Cinema is developing its cafe area and upgrading its entrance. We like to go for the 'National Theatr Live' showings

We have been before and always enjoyed it. We visited last week and although what we had was well cooked it was bland and nothing special. There are many restaurants in Newcastle so OK is not really good enough I'm afraid.

Yes, the main thing about an arthouse cinema is the films, and that's a given here. Like most of them, at least one of its screens is just lovely to be in (the 'Classic' seen in the photo). The Tyneside scores with its exhibitions, and with its full-scale cafe/restaurant/bar, well worth visiting for its own sake bets the likes of... More

I have been to the Tyneside Cinema since I was a teenager, The access to films other than those in the 'mainstream' cinemas is an attraction, particularly films in French. Also wonderful surroundings, super comfortable seats, great food and drink. A totally unique cinema experience!

This was our very first trip to the Tyneside cinema, in which we went to see a Studio Ghibli movie. It was a pleasure to see a cinema so classically well kept and that catered for the type of movies that we like to see. The auditorium was small & comfortable and we were instantly blown away by the sound... More
