A lovely family museum. Very informative but in an informal way. Lovely building and well set out.Even I enjoyed some of the hands on exhibits. If you like stuffy museums you will not like this. Big kids and little ones will love it.

Could do with more interactive displays and some are a bit rundowns.Went to the cafe to eat but wasn't impressed got a kids meal as wasn't much else... More

There's a good range of exhibits to look around so it's perfect for a rainy day. The science zone is the place to be as there's lots of interactive and fun thing's to do. The only negative thing about the trip was the cafe as my meal was not very nice at all. So I would recommend to keep clear!

Been going to this place for years, first as a kid and then taking my own kid. On a recent trip found it the same as it always was. Very few of the interactive exhibits work (usually damaged or switched off) and nothing has really changed there in years. Go for a visit by all means but once you've been,... More

If you like your history and Science, look no further, I visit here often with the kids, great family day out but also good for those looking to know about the local history, or history in general, can pick up a lot of information, and learn new things. Best of all its free!

Unfortunately this museum does not open until 11am, so we headed elsewhere and did not have time to come back. We were not the only surprised and disappointed visitors that day.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I’m sorry that you arrived at the museum before we were open. We are a publically funded museum and have faced significant cuts to our budgets in recent years due to pressures on public sector funding. This has meant we have had to make savings including adjusting our opening hours... More

We took the kids here during half term break, but it wasn't half term in Newcastle, which was great for us as it meant the museum wasn't too busy and we got to look around at our own pace. The kids loved playing with the water room and we were advised to bring a change of clothes. Lots of reasonably... More

This is a free entry venue (with donations welcome) which illustrates the development of Newcastle through tne ages, and which holds the county archives, which I have used to research the history of the nearby Souter Lighthouse. Turbinia is on display, the first steam turbine launch

The Discover offers everyone, regardless of age or gender a vast array of exciting learning opportunities, history, machinery, a steamboat, military exhibitions and interactive activities to name just very few of the experiences of Discovery. Staff are knowledgeable and approachable. Everything is well signposted. Situated in the heart of Newcastle with ease of parking. A must see.
