Great Sunday market
Dec 2019 • Couples
A really good Sunday market. Well laid out with some really interesting and different stalls with a good quality choice of food, manufactured goods and gifts. A nice location along the Tyne quayside. A lot better than the Christmas market in the city centre!

Best market we’ve been to
Nov 2019 • Family
Spent a couple of hours here on Sunday morning and what a choice of stalls.
Some lovely food stalls but the handmade stalls were fabulous and we bought quite a few unusual Christmas presents for family
Also what a fabulous back drop and lovely atmosphere. We are from Manchester and we loved it

Very good, lots of stalls mainly food stalls with a few others. Great location, some stalls are a little pricey but overall a good thing to do.

Used to be a regular visitor to the market in the late eighties and early nineties but must admit I have not been for many a year. I decided to make a visit two or three weeks ago, much to my disappointment the character of the market has disappeared along with the characters that ran the stalls. They gave the market its identity, now it is the same as any generic market, no individuality, crafty type things on offer, leather work stalls and the rest is just a glorified outdoor cafe. Give it a miss, it's boring!!

Lots of food and not much else
Sep 2019 • Couples
It’s been a few years since I last visited here so was looking forward to a good browse. Very disappointing!! Over taken by food stalls. Very little else to look at - a few picture stalls, some
Junk, sweets that look like they’ve been in someone’s cupboard since 1975 and a few nice handmade good stalls. It used to be so much better but I’d done the whole market in 30
Mins and that was me pushing it. Unless you’re hungry (the food did smell amazing), not worth visiting.

Not what it was

Like so many of our great traditions, the Quayside has increasingly taken over by the 'Artisan' type stalls. Often overpriced and repetitive in choice. The mirror stall is always impressive and the atmosphere is always laid back. The setting is excellent.

Great thing to do

Two visits in one review!!

This is a lovely thing to do on a Sunday.

Today we took our bikes to cycle along the quayside. For the market you have to get off and push. We did and had a good look at all of the stalls. I was particularly taken with all of the food stalls near the swing bridge, loads of cuisines to enjoy.

We went here on Sunday gone. Had lunch in Piccolono’s as it’s family friendly. Then headed to the market for a mooch. We wandered around the stalls buying cakes and ice creams for dessert. It’s a great thing to do on a Sunday and gives back to local producers. It was still going strong at 3pm.

Go Enjoy.
