Full marks to the National Trust for the heroic work they have done so far in rescuing this house literally from ashes and presenting it as accessible to the public while conservation work is taking place. The next few years are an exciting wait to...More

The large building is wrapped in scaffolding and cladding as the insurance claim gets sorted out and the plans get finalised for its rebirth. It is now possible to go into three rooms and you can look upwards to see the devastation that the fire...More

Run by the National Trust but sadly the house burnt out some years ago! You can see the restoration work now being taken. The grounds don't have much in them to make it worth visiting!

The catastrophic fire brought with it a number fascinating outcomes insofar as it gives one an insight into the property’s original construction and a flavour of how it might be reimagined. The hard hat and reflective vest regime bring with it a mild sense of...More

Just visited on 13th April. Sad sight having visited before the fire many times but at least things are moving forward. Facilities are obviously minimal but the guides are enthusiastic and informative and the gardens are of course unaffected by the fire damage, including the...More
