Nevis Range Mountain Experience is in the heart of the Scottish of Highlands, 7 miles north of Fort William. The Mountain Gondola will whisp you up to 650m on Aonach Mor where you'll find the Snowgoose restaurant & bar with spectacular views, mountain trails and viewpoint walks. In the winter, we're open for sledging, skiing, and snowboarding. In the summer our bike gondola uplift is open for biking and gives you access to 3 of the best mountain biking trails in Britain, including the world famous WorldCup Downhill track! Our lower forest trails are open all year round making mountain biking accessible year round! - ikslocGlasgow, United Kingdom60 contributionsAlways great, now even better - ace service and good facilities.Great views and service. Much fun on the wide range of bike tracks from easy blues to the slightly mental pro-level downhill :-) The Gondola up lift works brilliantly and makes the mountain accessible for all for a fair price. The multi trip pass for bikes worked very well for us. The bike shop team deserve special mention. - Great knowledge, speedy service and excellent quality hire bikes, again, for a good price. Thanks for your assistance! The Pinemarten Cafe is excellent for coffee and breakfast/lunch. The bar next to the hotel also had a good choice of drinks and splendid service. We'll be back for the food! onsite hotel, 'van parking and a hardstanding campsite for motorhomes is really convenient. Looking forward to future trips already. We are delighted to hear you had such a great experience whilst visiting Nevis range! - PThomas1985Stourbridge, United Kingdom396 contributionsGondola trip well worth doingI was staying at the Nevis Range Base Camp Hotel so thought it was worth doing the gondola trip while there. I did it more-or-less when it opened (9:30), so virtually nobody else there. It's not cheap at over £25, but worth it. I was lucky enough to go on a clear morning. Great views as you take the 20 minute trip up, and there's a decent trail worth doing when at the top. This takes you to a viewpoint, and is maybe 30 minutes there and back. I also opted for a hot chocolate in the cafe before heading down. Again, very quiet, so I got the pick of seats with a view. All in all, a great experience! We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your experience whilst visiting Nevis Range! Gondola ride was quick and gave some great views of surrounding areas. At top you have option to walk to higher views or enjoy views while having some food and refreshments in cafe. - PJJ58Gloucestershire, United Kingdom29 contributionsEasy way to experience the mountains without climbing! We were very lucky that it was a sunny day, probably wouldn't have gone up in the gondola if it had been cloudy. The cabins were quite scratched so not easy to get pictures going up, but plenty of viewing points once at the top. Good coffee and cake at the restaurant. Very friendly ticket lady, Jaz, gave us lots of advice.Hi There, thank you for your review. - Adventure3278071922816 contributionsNice viewsStaff very friendly. Nice clean and tidy site. Toilet/shower block clean. Laundry area good but, a little expensive. Free roaming chickens which was lovely. Only down fall, pitches were tiny and very close to each other which, when you have neighbours, that keep slamming campervan doors every 2 minutes, can prove to be very annoying. Site right next to Ben Nevis which was lovely.Hi There, thank you for the lovely review but I think it was maybe intended for the Glen Nevis Campsite?Written July 18, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 7, 2024
- Roving019719710011 contributionGreat bike school at Nevis rangeI highly recommend the bike school at Nevis range. My son (5) goes to the kids bike school on Saturday mornings and really enjoys it! It’s the highlight of his weekend. Antoine and the team are great and I’ve noticed a massive improvement in his skill and confidence on the bike. I also had a lesson with Rory from the bike school and was amazed at the difference in my riding. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and I’d recommend it to anyone looking to progress their skills and confidence on the bike.HI There, Thank you for your lovely review! The cafe isn't the best, coffee was very weak and the food is pre -packaged and not very nice.Hi There, thank you for your review, we are so glad you enjoyed your gondola trip, Our catering outlets are run by a third party so we will be sure to pass your comments on to them.Written July 16, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 22, 2024
- Arlene BStanley, Falkland Islands16 contributionsSun has to be outGreat little set up. Something for everyone. Although the toilets at the bottom could do with being maintained more. Some humans are just filthy and can't be bothered with picking up their toilet paper from the ground. And the stench of urine. The gondola ride was epic. Weather OK no major clouds so you could see what you wanted to see. And the views did not disappoint, you could see for miles. The cafe at the top was somewhat disappointing. Staff were nice, just felt a bit unloved. More attention to cleanliness. But cannot Diss the view on the massive veranda. Again you could see for miles and nice wee plaque with all the different mountain ranges. The cafe at the bottom was way nicer than the top cafe. Really good family day out.Hi Arlene, Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your Gondola ride at Nevis Range. - Rosey ASheffield, United Kingdom222 contributionsLofty mountain grandeurA wonderful day, travelling on the Gondola up the Aonach Mor Mountainside to a height of 650m. The views are amazing and this experience is good value for money. Arriving at the Snowgoose Restaurant, we had a delicious lunch whilst we admired the views, despite the inclement weather. There are two short walks (20 mins/30 mins each way) to good viewing points and although these are on well marked paths, would advise walking shoes/boots as the paths are rugged. All in all, a good day.HI There, Thank you so much for your lovely review! We had an enjoyable visit to the Nevis Mountain Range however lots of room for improvement before we would return.
We booked in advance to guarantee our tickets, £19.50 per adult is indeed expensive and a little bizarre for management to say it’s ‘competitive’ as even very swanky mountain resorts overseas do not charge anywhere near this.
The only other Scotland wide attractions in this price range tend to be historic monuments and castles at the very high end of conservation and heritage,
I work as a tour guide so can say this with experience, £12- £15 would more accurately reflect the quality of the customer experience and the condition of the resort.
Asking £3 extra for parking wasn’t an issue in itself but in this day and age of an increasingly cash-less society an option to pay for parking at the time of booking would be helpful.
As others have mentioned the gondolas are old, seating scruffy and the glass was very badly scratched this certainly took away from our experience and investment is needed to justify the prices and offer a 5 star experience.
The ride itself is very scenic and lasts around 15 mins it’s fun watching the mountain bikers navigate the steep trails below.
The facilities at the top and bottom are very dated and the whole resort feels like a throw back to the 1980s, usually I like this as it takes me back to being a kid but in this instance it all just looks dated.
Not having a member of staff meeting and greeting at the entrance was a shame, no one showing visitors how to use the self temperature machine and scan codes or give a warm first impression, we felt very rushed without that.
The highlight of our visit was being able to take our dog on the Gondola and we really enjoyed the amazing views.
It seems dogs are not allowed in the restaurant at the top however.
The walk to the viewpoint is easily done and well worth it.
COVID regulations were plentiful which was great to see and masks must be worn on the gondolas.
I did however feel it was very irresponsible for an attraction in such a beautiful location next to Ben Nevis to be encouraging every single person that visited to wear 2 x single use plastic gloves to ride the Gondola, many of which I saw blowing around the top of the mountain.
Not necessary or within any guidelines that I know of where masks, sanitising and social distancing are already well executed.

We booked a day pass on the gondola online then turned up at base car park (£3 for day) on Thursday at 9.30am. 2 of us in one gondola. Easy to board. Good solid structure. Steady 15-20 minute ascent. Quiet when we got there. Walked 10-15 minutes along/up path to viewing point over Fort William. Stunning panoramas. Blessed with beautiful clear sunny conditions.
Enjoyed reasonably priced coffees, haggis bun and bacon& sausage roll from restaurant and watched intrepid mountain bikers setting off on downhill trail. COVID measures good as quieter at that time.

First of all I think that £22 for adults and £12.50 for kids is not a lot to spend on a family day these days as some of the reviews suggest. We booked online quickly and simply and travelled from Loch Lomond to do the scenic A82 drive up to Fort William which is breath taking and took us about 2.5 hours. The Range is just past Torlundy and is sign posted when you need to turn off. On arrival we parked up easily and made our way to the queue for the gondolas. The ride up was great and our 11 year old loved it! You can watch the mountain bikers speed down from the top and it is hair raising but great fun to watch.
On arrival to the top we did the 30 min walk which was indicated by the blue rope, very easy for those with no mobility problems but please wear sensible footwear, we saw some people in flats which is really silly as the path up is rocky and you’re going to end up with a broken ankle! Many people took their small children up so the walk is not challenging or difficult but very enjoyable when you reach the top and see the views.
The cafe was well stocked and although not the cheapest I guess they need to make their money whilst they can during tourist season. We only bought a drink and ice cream so not sure about prices on hot food.
The ride down was great too the scenery in the area is stunning, the weather on the day we went was hot and sunny so I guess this really helped our enjoyability factor so I’d suggest to try and book on the warmest day you can.

Not worth the money.
I visited the Nevis Range in July 2021 having previously been there many times before but with the last time being in 2013. I was immediately surprised by the car park fee which was free on my previous visits. On doing some research it appears that these fees were introduced in 2016 with the "intention" of upgrading the car park. I believe this was a £3.00 fee at that time which has been later increased to £4.50. I can say the car park looks NO different to when I was last there in 2013 with exception to the barriers and ANPR camera system. The car park is still gravel and leaves a nice trail of dust on what was a clean car before visiting. It would appear local residents get free car parking but are charged an admin fee. If I was local I wouldn't pay on principal. I was wondering what was next.
I soon found out when purchasing two tickets for the cable car at £22.00 each. I cannot remember exactly how much it was in 2013, about £13.00 maybe £15.00 perhaps but a considerable rise from my previous visit. I was wondering what improvements have been made. I found none with exception to the lower cafe which I don't think was there before. The point though is to go up the mountain and not stay at the bottom.
We decided to eat and tried to ignore the high prices in the cafe and although our burger was extremely nice, the chips looked liked they had been warmed up many times and I left mine. Luckily we had our own drinks as they were expensive also. Only the hot food side was open and considering this was peak season and with social distancing due to the pandemic, it was easy to find a seating area. I think that speaks for itself across lunchtime.
The rest benches on the walks to the mountains at each side have seen much better days and the one that is closer to Ben Nevis is rotten and looks like it is going to collapse. We always thought there wasn't enough rest benches and there are no more than they were 8 years ago.
On our many visits to the Nevis Range we always liked to watch the mountain bikers taking on the course. This was the last week of July, peak season and we struggled to find accommodation in Fort William and had to venture further afield, yet the mountain bikers were scarce. Perhaps the high cost has put them off too. I saw just 6 maybe 8 bikers in the 4 hours or so we spent there. There would have been others whilst we were out waking but waiting in the queue to come back down the mountain we only saw two bikers.
The views are exceptional but there are so many views in Scotland that offer the same for free. My advice is give it a miss as the cost just doesn't justify it. We shall be going back to Scotland and Fort William, but we shall not be visiting the Nevis Range again.

Hi Raymond,
Thank you for your review. However we would just like to clear up a few points that you have highlighted. Carparking charges were introduced in 2016, this was to generate income for the upkeep of the carpark as well as walking and cycling routes that are assessed through the carpark and a free of charge for anyone to use. Despite the base station walking and cycling routes producing no direct income we have a year-round team employed who maintain these tracks and trails.
You are correct that over the course of the last 8 years our pricing has increased, the rate of increase is less than £1 per year.
The Snowgoose Café at the top does only have one open side now. The reason for this is it allows us to operate a one-way system and offer a safer environment during the pandemic.
Bike spectating isn’t an activity we include in the ticket price, however unless we were winded off there was no day in July when we had less than 50 riders a day on the gondola. So it surprises me that in a 4 hour period you only say 4 on the tracks.
We don’t hide our prices or our offering. All of our Gondola, Parking & Food Prices are available on our website for our customers and visitors to research prior to coming.
Thank you for your review and in future we would ask that you looking on www.nevisrange.co.uk for all the latest information prior to your visit.
Many Thanks,
Nevis Range Management Team

A must if you are in Fort William, great cable car ride to the top and two equally enjoyable walks. I would recommend you do the walk to the right when you get up as this will give you tremendous views of Ben Nevis and Fort William, nice cafe at the top with a great viewing deck. My only gripe would be the price, £21 to ride the cable car is a little steep if you pardon the pun. However a good day out and would recommend. All COVID measures in place.

Fab time on the cable car with our twin 10 year olds and our Airedale Terrier!! I hate heights but made it up and back in one piece! So glad that I did it. Did the 30 minute walk once up there and took some amazing photos. Loved watching the fearless mountain bikers going down the slopes - crazy! The restaurant at the top has amazing views also (a little pricey we felt but still good quality) would recommend this to anyone of any age no matter what your capability and definitely take you dog to the top - they love it!!

Paid around £22.00 per ticket to sit in a dirty seat and peer out of dirty scratched windows that made photographs virtually impossible to take.
Apart from one sanitiser near the toilet, we did not see any of the gondolas cleaned after use. We watched ours return down for someone else to get in.
VERY POOR VALUE. Not very covid aware.
Don't expect it to go right to the top either. The other lift was not working.
The view of Ben Nevis was minimal and well behind a larger mountain range that was in front.
The paths for mountain bikes were being built and appeared to be good to bike on, however the paying walkers had cobbles, rubble, and uneven ground to walk on. Fine for kitted out walkers but not great for families or elderly people expecting a safe walking environment.
Take a mobile phone, as if you had an accident up there, they have not put any numbers to call or get assistance.

Hi Chris,
Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback.
Our prices are competitive with other attractions locally.
We have put in a number of measures to make sure customers feel as safe as possible when visiting Nevis Range. The Gondola is classed as public transport and we therefore follow every Covid-19 related guideline relating to this sector. The Gondolas are each sprayed, every morning, with a fogging agent which has an 18 hour efficiency period. We ask that you travel in a Gondola with your own household only while wearing face coverings and gloves. There are also hand sanitiser stations at all high traffic touch points. We are asking all customers to read through our Covid-19 Health & Safety page before visiting us to make sure that everyone is comfortable with the measures we have in place nevisrange.co.uk/plan-your-visit/covid-19-health-safety/
There is no lift on the hill able to take foot passengers to the summit of Aonach Mor. This has not been advertised at all.
We do not advertise fantastic views of Ben Nevis. The views across the Great Glen are fantastic though and definitely worth the visit!
When you exit the Top Station you are entering a mountain environment. We do have 2 viewpoint walks which are easier to access however some people choose to simply enjoy the views from the Restaurant Balcony. Perhaps this would have been more suitable for you.
We are more than happy for you to get in touch to discuss your concerns. Please email Alice at marketing@nevisrange.co.uk

Did not book online in advance and just took a chance on the queues. Was a beautiful hot sunny day and although there were plenty of people, including some coach parties, we just paid for tickets and jumped on a gondola. The views over the Nevis range and the bike tracks were fantastic. Although the gondola stopped a few times (for no more than a few seconds) as we ascended and descended which they warn you about, it never felt unsafe. My kids had had food from the cafe at the top which was quite pricey but they enjoyed it and the service was very friendly. They also went biking and had a great time. We were there with other family members who are based in Scotland and are ‘regulars’ for the ski season and walking - they were disappointed that there’s now a parking charge but that’s my only negative comment.

Nevis Range has charged for parking since 2017. We have just recently changed this to a barriered system.

The staff here are doing everything to follow the covid guidance and keep you safe. £20 for a lifetime experience is great value, especially when this is up and running and visitor numbers are currently so low. Please support this venture if you possibly can as we want it to be there for people (who may not be able to climb anymore) to enjoy after this pandemic. Note - it's classed as public transport so pop on a mask for the 15min journey.

I took my 9yr old son for his first taste of mountain biking not expecting the outcome of this adventure. We arrived late morning and decided to take the gondola to the restaurant. I found taking the gondola quite efficient and also felt covid safe with sanitiser in many locations and air vents open in the gondola roof for air circulation. The ride was smooth and my son was amazed as he watched the mtbers tear down the mountain on the trail under the gondola. When we returned it was time for a ride ourselves. After receiving some excellent advice from the service and repair shop we set off on the mountain road, which was great for my son to gain a little confidence. We then entered the witches trail, which was excellent for him with more confidence gained. After riding the puggy line back to the start he was so confident after doing the moguls(?) he wanted to ride the voodoo and blue adder, and did he x10.. He himself tore down the mountain just like he'd witnessed when he first arrived. Thanks to everyone at the centre for your hospitality, your excellent facility and giving my son the conference to tackle some difficult terrain. He wants to do the full world cup course now!! I would recommend this centre for anyone who likes the great outdoors, cycling or walking it caters for all. We had a fabulous day and cannot wait to return to do the big one!

Hallo Kirsten,
Zou jij me kunnen vertellen wat een eenmalig ticket kost voor deze gondel op de Ben Nevis in Schotland?
Ik hoor graag van je

If you arrived at 2pm would you have enough time to see lookouts at the top and be back in time before last bus departs for Fort William at 4.42pm? Or do bus schedules run later in summer?

Hi, I have booked the gondola on 21st Aug. Would like to do theSgurr Finnisg-aig (shorter 45 min round trip) walk with my children. We would also like to go to Steall Waterfall and try to do the rope bridge walk to the waterfalls. Would like some advice if this is doable please, and if so what's the best way to go about it in terms of car parking etc? Thanks.

You need to get to Steal Falls car park as early as possible! Dont park at Lower Falls car park as Steal Falls is further on and is single track road with passing places. It gets full very quickly. The walk is lovely but steep in places and high drops but there is plenty of room to pass safely. Rocks can be slippery if its rained so wear walking boots/trainers. Allow a good couple of hours but its do-able for any age.... we had 10 year old twins who loved it but passed other families with toddlers and a few mumswith babies strapped to them. Its worth it when you finally see the waterfall! You can cross the river by bridge or carefully on stepping stones but the bridge isnt suitable for kids. My husband did it and he said the ropes you hold are too high and get further apart the nearer you get to the other side. The gondola is great, like the other review the cafe is pricey so take a picnic you can spend aslong as u want up there, our girls loved it.

Hi, I am planning to visit with my family in early May and would like to ask which walking path offers nicer views if we had to choose one? Meall Beag or Sgurr Finnisg-aig? Are they equally challenging and would the routes be suitable for seniors between 65 - 75 YO as well as kids as young as 5 YO? Thanks!

Hi! Yes, you can take your dog up with the Gondola. Dogs are not allowed on the ski-runs, but you can take them on a walk!
