About
The Denbies Estate, based in Dorking, Surrey, has been family owned and run since 1984. Denbies vineyard was planted in 1986, and since then has become one of the largest wine producers in the UK. Denbies core business is agriculture and we are pleased to be able to offer visitors an insight into wine production in the UK. Denbies wine now competes on an international level, including multiple gold awards for sparkling wine production, the first ever gold for an English rose wine and most recently an international gold for Denbies Noble Harvest Dessert wine. We are honoured over the years to have welcomed several members of the Royal family to the estate, completing the historical connections which date back to Prince Albert in 1851. The Surrey Hills is a beautiful area to live in and while you are visiting do take advantage of the surrounding areas, including 7 miles of public footpath which trail throughout the vineyard. Thank you for visiting Denbies Wine Estate. If you have any questions during your visit, our staff will be very happy to assist you in any matter. We very much hope that you will enjoy your visit.

The walking trails and views on the Denbies Estate are stunning, this was my go-to place to unwind and try to forget the worries of Covid, and a super venue to meet with a friend for a socially distanced amble. We are so fortunate to have such natural beauty on our doorstep and look forward to returning in different seasons

Train tour was substituted for a disappointing indoor wine tasting experience
Oct 2021 • Friends
Indoor wine tasting experience. We had to substitute our 11am train tour as this had been cancelled. Unfortunately this was very disappointing as we are wine novices and thought we would be increase our knowledge. We spent the first 20 minutes watching a pre recorded screen and then were taken into a courtyard where we had to peer through dirty Misty windows to see the wine barrels and the stainless steel tanks. Not only was this tour was more expensive but very disappointing

Had lunch in Denbies today and we found the young staff to be immature, unhelpful and more interested in talking amongst themselves whilst customers stood in a queue for over ten minutes with a hot meal that unfortunately had now gone lukewarm. A young lady, called Ellie, that came out from the back made a huge difference in two minutes than the others would have made in a week. Really felt like they wanted or were trying to annoy the customers!!!! They certainly annoyed me so Very reluctant to go back!!!

Recommend the Secret tour!

We have done the secret tour and Shelley was amazing! We had a great informative time and if the weather is sunny it is a very pleasant experience.

Fantastic wine tour
Sep 2021 • Couples
Started with a fabulously entertaining wine tour. Very nice room, well appointed. Dinner was not bad but slightly underwhelming. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic. Lovely walk around some of the vines, great farm shop . A good stay.

Great for a night away !!
Sep 2021 • Couples
A lovely stay here just for one night. Started with a glass of fizz whilst watching a very informative video, set in a small cinema with plenty of seating and a big screen.Very comfortable.
We then went with the very welcoming tour guide Shelley for a tasting of the still wines. Shelley was very knowledgeable about the wines and answered our questions in a professional but friendly manner. Next we had a lovely lunch in the Gallery restaurant. Then we booked into the Vineyard Hotel, the room was clean and pleasantly decorated with a lovely ensuite bathroom (no shelf for bits though) Room number 1.
Went for a walk through beautiful vineyard scenery, then sat in the afternoon sun with a glass of fizz listening to the birds accompanying the views of the vineyard…Bliss
Dinner in vineyard restaurant was okay but with limited choice with three the same as lunch menu, which was a little disappointing. Breakfast was a bit ordinary, but the views forgive a lot !!

Brunch n bubbles…… not
Sep 2021 • Family
Sadly really couldn’t recommend…..
Here’s why….
We booked the gallery restaurant and train tour for a big family celebration and advised this by email after being impressed by the offering of brunch n bubbles in a lovely gallery restaurant with views.
Arrived to find, after searching for someone to (!) , the restaurant was unavailable!
This should have been communicated to us prior to our visit.

Instructed ( not asked, no apology)to walk around to the hotel to a breakfast canteen like place ( difficult as had two elderly relatives who really struggled to walk round there) where we were “greeted” with “oh my god, there’s seven of them-where are we going to put them” and “you’ll have to wait out there-there’s no room here.”We then had to sit outside whereupon we nearly had to leave as after ten mins , Grandad was so cold he was shivering and shaky. Eventually a round hut place structure was set for breakfast for us -food was eventually delivered but went cold quickly and we had to request enough cups, cutlery and even a working salt and pepper set!!
There was no further service!!
Remember, we had paid for service in a lovely restaurant and we received a low quality breakfast in a round hut type building with huge open front.
We all felt so disappointed and cheated having pre-paid a large sum of money for good quality food brunch and bubbles in a restaurant with fabulous views……
We tried to formally complain but the waitress just kept saying she’d just returned from holiday and she knew nothing about our booking.

Couldnt have been better. Thank you to Anne Denny for organising a wonderful luncheon for Seniors and a wine tasting. Everyone couldnt have been kinder or more helpful. We had a wonderful luncheon with very attentive service under the watchful eye of James. You made the day very special for us all with your kindness and level of care. We will be back.

Gorgeous vineyard but don’t waste your money on a stay in the hotel
Sep 2021 • Couples
Beautiful location the vineyard itself is gorgeous and great for walks around the vines.
The wine tasting experience was interesting the lady who talked us through the wines was great, brilliant sense of humour whilst very knowledgeable and explaining the 5 different wines we were given, but I think it would be worth paying the extra and doing the train tour, our tour was included in their mid week deal of a night stay and dinner in the hotel restaurant.
This is where I was extremely disappointed.
We got into the hotel room and at first sight it was very spacious however when we went to the window to look at the view we could see into the room opposite us directly onto their bed so wasn’t a great view from room 4, then when at the window could see all of the cobwebs that were around the window with the spider sitting in the corner. We then looked at the bed and there were cobwebs next to the bed along with another spider. In the information it said there was a coffee and hot chocolate pods to go into the coffee machine however when I went to use it there was no hot chocolate so I went down and asked for some which they provided and asked if our room had been cleaned properly as the amount of cobwebs and spiders suggested they had not dusted for at least 3 days, she did come up to dust it but refused to touch the spider as she disliked them.
When we went down for dinner there was several large spider, cobwebs and baby spiders above our table which again looked to have not been cleared for a while.
The food was nice although I was served the wrong wine (as was another table next to us) then was charged for a wine that we hadn’t even had on our bill at the end.
The reception staff all wore masks however non of the serving staff were wearing anything which seemed odd.
When we tried to make the suggestion that they need to clean the cobwebs and spiders away we were ignored as they proceeded to answer the phone instead.
The breakfast was nice but didn’t come as advertised with sourdough bread it was just a bit of hovis.
Overall a very disappointing experience.
Would recommend a day visit for walks and the wine tasting but don’t waste your money on the hotel.

Perfect venue for a fabulous wedding
Sep 2021 • Couples
Our wedding at Denbies was everything we wanted it to be and this was in part due to Dawn who gave us a first class experience in planning and preparing for the day. It is a stunning venue with wonderful staff, fabulous food and when you add a little sunshine, just magical. Thank you to everyone involved
