During our short stay at Bury St Edmunds we had a tour of the Abbey gardens along with a very informative history lesson on the surrounding ruins of the old Abbey. The gardens are kept very well and looked beautiful in the warm sunshine. Our tour guide, Brian, knew his subject very well and answered any questions we had in... More

Our guide, Stephen, was unbelievable. He possessed expansive knowledge of the area and the history of the town and country - it was very helpful in understanding the importance and timeline of Bury St Edmunds history. We paid five pounds for a 90 minute tour, which continued for an additonal 75 minutes! One of the best walking tours I have... More

John Marshall gave the two of us a fascinating tour despite the drizzle. No one else turned up and we had a trip round the abbey ruins, with an always humorous, knowledgable guide, flexible enough to follow our interests rather than a fixed agenda. Thank you

The "Written In Stone" tour takes in a selection of engraved stone plaques on a variety of edifices in Bury St Edmunds which we've all passed a thousand times without noticing. Fortunately, Dee was on hand, not only to draw them to our attention but to impart background, local knowledge and historical context to bring their stories to life. Who... More

We could all hear his talk clearly and it's very obvious that he is passionate about the town . I have done many Bury st Edmunds tours and even though we live in the town we always learn... More

Our guide, Michael, was extremely knowledgeable (one could see it from the answers he provided for impromptu questions) but did not "stuff" it upon us. The town (not city although does have a cathedral -something I learned from him) is steeped in English history and surprisingly colorful. The tour included historical sites as well as the town and its architecture.... More

What a lovely Sunday afternoon. It was just the four of us on the tour, our guide, Stephen, and we three. The tour was well paced and entertainingly informative. Bury has a very rich history and the tour covered Middle Ages through to the near past. Stephen proved personable and very knowledgeable, he was more than happy to expand when... More

Our guide, Steven, concentrated on explaining how important Bury St. Edmunds has been since medieval times, giving numerous fascinating examples. His style of delivery and depth of knowledge is brilliant. We started in the abbey ruins and went into the town centre and heard about a large range topics, covering bits of history over the last millennium. Our were kept... More

The two-hour walking tour of the city is great! It's a nice walk and you learn a lot of the city and its history. Highlights included the Abbey ruins and gardens, the Angel Hotel, the smallest pub in England, and the market place. It was interesting to hear about how the streets are laid out and named. Our guide pointed out... More
