We attended one of the FREE tours. The guide Marion, was VERY knowledgable and passionate about the Cathedral. The history of the building was given and the story of St Edmund, outlined. There is also work from a visiting artist around the walls, the current exhibition is called 'A cloud of witnessess', not to my taste but as they say,... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this lovely Cathedral, especially enjoyed the free guided tour provided by the very knowledgeable and interesting lady at 11am. The visit will be further enhanced in the future when they do Tower Tours (which we understand are coming soon). The visit is free but donations are very much appreciated in order to maintain this building.

In historical terms the cathedral of St Edmundsbury is relatively new having only been a cathedral for just over 100 years. But the building itself goes back over 500 years and there is much to see. It appears very elegant and your eyes are drawn up to the beautiful ceilings. The new Millennium Tower is absolutely amazing and shows a... More

As we were roaming around Abbey Gardens we saw a sign for 'Pilgrims Kitchen ' this led us to an entrance for the Cathedral. What an amazing place, it took my breath away. I can't believe how many times I have walked past this wonderful place & have never taken the time to go in. Well I will be returning... More

When in BSE, walk around the cathedral and pop into the refer extort before strolling around the ruins and gardens. The cathedral is the only one in Suffolk and is well cared for. I have attended a carol concert here in the past which had amazing acoustics and would thoroughly recommend.

Bury St Edmunds Cathedral may be small in comparison to others Cathedrals but really is worth a visit, many interesting items including the new tower and the windows, which are beautiful, especially when the sun is shining, the organ is amazing, and was being played when I visited,

This cathedral has a very peaceful feel and seems lighter than many older examples. I especially loved the light oak carvings and the painted ceiling.
