Unbelievably rude! If you're not in the click, they don't want to know you. They take your money and get you out as soon as possible! Horses do not look like they are taken care of properly. utter shambles. The rich kids are more than welcome though.

My hour riding lesson
Mar 2019 • Solo
I have not ridden a horse for nearly 40 years now. This was a buy a gift present from my wife. I was quite apprehensive but the young girl who lead me around was really patient and made me relaxed and confident. Although this lesson was only an hour I found that to be ample after such a long time since riding. The whole experience was great. When I win the lotto I intend to get myself a horse so guess that's why my wife chose this for me. The only fly in the ointment was there is a weight limit for riders, this was never mentioned when my wife bought the gift or even she booked, we only found out when filling out forms. I didn't allow this to spoil my experience but if you're a little chunky like me I would advise checking before booking. I would definitely recommend this riding centre to others. Thanks again to the staff and of course horses of Mill House Riding Centre

Excellent riding school, big part of our family life
Oct 2017 • Family
I spent a lot of time deciding where our daughter would learn to ride. Our needs were higher than many other places were able to provide.

From my first phone call with Sarah in June 2016..to our most recent lesson yesterday with Sam this place has been fantastic.

To be fair, I know little about horses and riding but our now 10 year old daughter has planned her life and future round them so we wanted somewhere for the long haul. Somewhere where Emily could learn to ride but also make friends, find role models, learn about equipment, Livery and perhaps one day ride off into the sunset with everything she needs for her life with horses....

But, I can't work now and I am disabled so I needed support too. Prices are very good value, payment and attendance is as we need it rather than paying in advance or losing money when I was ill. This was really important to us and I didn't find many other places as flexible and understandung as at Mill House.

I trust teachers completely with my daughter. Health and safety (and safeguarding) are taken very seriously as is the welfare of animals.

LESSONS (£23 for hours group, £23 for half hour private) have been well structured, really personalised to the small groups of kids taking lessons. Most we've had in lesson is 5, usually it is 2 or 3. Despite the popularity of the centre.

PONY WEEKS (£150 for week, £35 per day 10am - 3pm)(holiday club) allowed kids to 'own a pony for the day' and Emily has enjoyed grooming, mucking out, jumping dressage etc...

SATURDAY YOUNG RIDERS (£35 for 10am - 3pm) is newer and so far fantastic! Well organised, learning is recorded and kids work towards badges as well as have a riding lesson included. Friendships encouraged with games and activities.

SHOW JUMPING As newbies to the riding world we have enjoyed spending some sunny Thursday evenings watching indoor show jumping competitions. Emily too new to ride so was encouraged to help (she LOVED This) and we met lots of cool people.

In terms of arranging lessons and stuff... This place is the easiest I've dealt with as a Mum. Easy to contact, happy to chat about bookings and also progress after lessons, payment and organising always been easy.

But the thing most of all (which I must write in sincere disagreement to other reviewers) is how friendly, and frankly gorgeous they have been to kids. There are rules (so I'm not surprised that people wandering off near horses and feeding horses that aren't there own were asked to stop) and these rules are there for animal welfare and people's safety but we have found this to be communicated kindly and appropriately.

Communication of complex skills with children is fantastic. I don't know horses but I do know teaching and these guys are good at it. Encouraging, and our family love them.

Weve enjoyed the last year and intend to be here a lot longer into the future.

Unfortunately just left millhouse with my horse as it was just too far for me to travel from where I live. But this place has fab facilities, especially those who love to compete.Theres always lots going on(pony days, show jumping).Staff are really nice. And there's a nice little cafe too.Theres plenty of room for everyone with the two indoors and outdoors. Will miss the place but Sarah said we are always welcome back.

Do not recommend!

Been to watch my niece ride here a number of times on a weekend. I have horses myself and I am thoroughly unimpressed!!! All horses seemed uncomfortable, always ripping the reins out of the riders hands!!! Have they ever seen a dentist?? Not suitable to learn on, riders seemed to spend the whole time trying to teach the horses to go in straight lines!!! Few of the ponies couldn't get 3 steps without stopping and scratching legs!! Also yard staff appear to be kids with no adult supervision!!!

Mar 2017 • Family
as per prevous reviews have stated.... all the staff we meet were not friendly..... cant go here cant go there. Once you had your lesson they want you out. Told off for feeding the horses a few carrotts after the lesson. once we had our lesson we went for a little walk up the track to see horses in field with little daughter, we got shouted at dont go there...
first ever terrible review i have left ever
but i would avoid....
making money of children but not welcoming
half price first lesson £7.50
but not aimed at younger children...
the teachers trainers all seem to be young teenagers or volunteers...

..... felt like army boot camp.....
only positive was leaving
can see why they have to use offers and groupon to get people in....

Returned to riding after 15 years with daughters
Dec 2016 • Family
My daughters and I returned to riding after a 15 year break. We originally booked via Groupon deal. We have now been going to Millhouse for just over a year. We ride every Monday evening and love it. Our instructor, Michelle is great, she has been really patient bringing us back to riding fitness and allowing us to gain our confidence back at our own pace whilst encouraging us to progress. We are now working over poles and small jumps. We love riding here. We have found the staff and helpers very friendly. Would definitely recommend Millhouse for riding. The riding facilities are excellent.

Visited the centre with my 3 year old who was extremely excited to be horse riding, the staff showed a severe lack of interest, didn't introduce themselves to parents or kids. There were 3 children in the class and because one of the girls had been a few times previously she was favoured over the other children and my child was ignored throughout. The helpers were extremely young and didn't talk to the children throughout the lesson, my daughters ponies saddle wasn't fastened correctly and kept sliding and the stirrups weren't adjusted to my daughters height so she was unable to carry out the instructions from the teacher as the orders were shouted at her because her stirrups kept falling out. At the end of the class there girls were told to go and get a sticker. The teacher then went on to teach another class, ignored the kids and just left them to leave. There was no one to meet us in the reception so after waiting quite a while with no one turning to collect the riding hats, we just left them on the reception and left. Definitely felt like a second class citizen because we used a coupon voucher. Staff not welcoming or indeed showing an interest. Extremely disappointed.
