I have been to other similar places but this has got to be the best on offer. It was abuzz with beautiful butterflies in full colour and the pond with the fish, the waterfall and the bananas on the tree were interesting added features.. My own personal concern was the keeping of meerkats. Although they did look happy and relaxed I do not like to see wild animals confined unless for breeding purposes if near extinct. . The grandchildren loved them though. The family cost of admission was half the price of other parts of the country and I hope it never changes to help make if affordable for all.

Fantastic place for a day out. It only costs £4.25pp and you can spend as long as you want there and come and go as you please all day. There are so many beautiful butterflies flying around and there is even an area for reptiles.

Our daughter enjoyed her visit to Butterfly world. Although small we spent our time looking around and she was truly fascinated at the butterflies, koi fish and the reptiles and meerkats. Was in there an hour or so and if we weren't hungry for lunch could of stayed for longer.
Lovely tropical climate inside away from the cold so make sure to take your jackets off. The lady at the till kindly let us park our buggy in the shop whilst we were inside.
Kids under 5 enter for free and 2x adults cakes to around under £10. Bargain for what it is and on the grounds of Preston Park. Will be back.

This is a good little attraction that makes the park a little different. There's plenty of butterflies to see but also some fish, lizards of various types, ants and meercats. However what lets it down in these unusual times (more so than the expensive price) is the lack of any Covid safety measures. Yes they appear to be limiting numbers but once inside, despite signs asking people to wear masks this was clearly not enforced. I estimated about a third of people inside were not just nose-poking (throat and nose connected at the back people!) but just not wearing masks at all. Bear in mind the hot, humid environment and no real ability or space to socially distance this is the ideal place to catch and spread Covid very easily. Not only this but, again despite the signs we saw plenty of people touching the butterflies without being challenged. So in effect with out child being under 5 and therefore free we paid £9.50 to spend 20minutes in a greenhouse full of butterflies to catch Covid.

We visited today and my friend paid £16 on her bank card. A few moments later, a man came to say that the transaction had failed and that it must be the signal and it hasn’t happened before. My friend paid the £16 again and they said it had worked. After checking her bank account, both transactions had in fact worked and she had therefore paid £32 in total. Returning to speak to the sales advisor, he was in the process of saying exactly the same to another family - and telling them that their transaction hadn’t worked. He tried to make an excuse and said it was pending and to speak to him again on the way out if it still showed up on her account as two transactions. On the way out, we explained how we had contacted the bank and he handed over £16 cash (not refunding to her banks card even though that was the original method of payment). The young boy, lady and man were definitely suspicious and we believe that they are using this strategy to scam people. We want to make other people aware because some people may not have immediate access to banking apps etc!

Had a lovely time at butterfly world, it’s a lovely addition to have the fish and the meerkats etc in there too. Prices were reasonable for entry and also in the gift shop in my opinion. The play area is fab outside aswell.
We got there early, around 10.30 and queues for around 20-30 mins. Later in the day the queue was very much longer so would’ve took a lot longer to get in.

Beautiful butterflies to look at, the meerkats were fun too. Doesn’t take long to look round but the ticket allows you access all day so still good value for money. They could do with enforcing the “no touching” rule as many people just grabbing the poor butterflies!

Brilliant day out. The enclosure itself is very warm so worth leaving coats in the car.

Definitely worth buying food for the fish to see them jumping over each other to get it.

I’d recommend going around, visiting the nearby children’s park and returning again before you leave.

I've been here many times over the years and my impression of the place has never changed. It's always been a brilliant experience.

I last took my 90 year old grandmother and my two year old at the time and it was perfect for them.

This is such a relaxing place to visit and the butterflies are beautiful. I went as part of my job as a carer with a young gentleman who has Down's Syndrome. He was very relaxed throughout and seemed to enjoy the experience. As a carer I got in free and he paid which I consider fair. Excellent afternoon out on the doorstep as well. The only gripe I have is the fish in the pound. Fish should be free and live in seas and rivers. For that reason I give it a 3.
