    Worth the money.
The price is fantastic for admittance £5 for adults. The butterfly's were amazing and no rush to leave either. Meerkats ,koi carp were interesting too. I'd wear cool clothes as very hot in there. Plenty seats available inside..The parks and museum were good too and plenty picnic space. Free car parking.

    Beautiful Butterflies in lovely surroundings
Like a paradise and tropical area full of beautiful butterflies of different varieties. Lovely staff. The lady in 'Butterfly World' who supplied plasters to mend my sandal was so lovely and stood out. The personal service and interest in the customer was outstanding. Butterfly World is amazing. Visited for my birthday this year and last year. Had 4 butterflies hand on me. A Great Eggfly butterfly really took to me! And was on my feet for over a minute. Also had 3 yellow butterflies land on me at the same time when we were seated. Is supposed to be lucky and spiritual. Made my day!

    Nice but quick.
It’s a pretty quick visit but the children enjoyed it. There did however seem to be far fewer butterflies in there than on previous visits. Have to agree with the previous review that the meerkats were pretty stinky but I think the size of all the enclosures is pretty similar to anywhere else in the UK. Whether that’s right or not is another matter I suppose. So, if your children like butterflies it’s probably worth a visit and the nearby park is pretty nice.

    Wonderful
We visited today, after a 9 year hiatus. We used to visit regularly when my daughter was younger. It's still an exquisite, beautiful experience. Maya was missed, the gorgeous chatty bird! Very busy, but was a wonderful revisit, and I'm sure, not the last.

    Butterflies & Much More
Spectacular butterflies, loved them. However, don't just look at the star attraction, take in the plants flowers, quail, koi, frogs & the adorable chipmunks & meerkats. Very reasonably priced. Got back to the car & a small butterfly had hitched a ride in my collar. My husband cupped it gently in his hands & it was returned safely. Will definitely be back & will check my collar for hitchhikers before leaving.

    Butterfly day out
Took the kids for a day out and at the end they had a few little animals like meerkats and a carpet snake etc . You get a stamp to go back in throughout the day as the room the butterflies are in is like a sauna . Greeted with exceptional customer service at desk and very disability friendly as son has a learning disability.

    Great place
Don't make the same mistake as me and go wearing a sweater 😂 Fantastic little place. Cheap entry and can pop in and out during the day. Lots of different butterflies as well as koi fish, merekats, a chipmunk and snake. Definately recommended

This is a good little attraction that makes the park a little different. There's plenty of butterflies to see but also some fish, lizards of various types, ants and meercats. However what lets it down in these unusual times (more so than the expensive price) is the lack of any Covid safety measures. Yes they appear to be limiting numbers but once inside, despite signs asking people to wear masks this was clearly not enforced. I estimated about a third of people inside were not just nose-poking (throat and nose connected at the back people!) but just not wearing masks at all. Bear in mind the hot, humid environment and no real ability or space to socially distance this is the ideal place to catch and spread Covid very easily. Not only this but, again despite the signs we saw plenty of people touching the butterflies without being challenged. So in effect with out child being under 5 and therefore free we paid £9.50 to spend 20minutes in a greenhouse full of butterflies to catch Covid.

We visited today and my friend paid £16 on her bank card. A few moments later, a man came to say that the transaction had failed and that it must be the signal and it hasn’t happened before. My friend paid the £16 again and they said it had worked. After checking her bank account, both transactions had in fact worked and she had therefore paid £32 in total. Returning to speak to the sales advisor, he was in the process of saying exactly the same to another family - and telling them that their transaction hadn’t worked. He tried to make an excuse and said it was pending and to speak to him again on the way out if it still showed up on her account as two transactions. On the way out, we explained how we had contacted the bank and he handed over £16 cash (not refunding to her banks card even though that was the original method of payment). The young boy, lady and man were definitely suspicious and we believe that they are using this strategy to scam people. We want to make other people aware because some people may not have immediate access to banking apps etc!

As a birthday treat, my niece, a zoology student had asked for a trip to Butterfly World. I have been to several butterfly parks in different parts of the world, some better than others. I was pleasantly surprised to find this one well stocked with a good variety of species from Africa, Asia and South America. The display was attractively arranged with nectar and food plants. It was like walking through a multi coloured kaleidoscope of flying butterflies. They would alight on the vegetation giving plenty of photographic opportunities. The plants had many spectacular blooms and there was also a wall of fascinating pitcher plants. Close inspection of the leaves revealed some of the caterpillars feeding. There were also strings of suspended chrysalises from some of which butterflies could be observed emerging and spreading their wings for the first time.
Being a home for tropical species, the environment is hot and humid. A small feature stream runs throughout crossed by a bridge and featuring a waterfall and pond.
There is a separate area housing tropical frogs, spiders and meerkats.
The day we visited there were a lot of visitors, many of them families with small children. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the experience. The one thing I think they missed out on is the gift shop, it could have been so much more.
All in all I would highly recommend Stockton Butterfly World as an ideal family day out. We spent at least a couple of hours inside.

Had a lovely time at butterfly world, it’s a lovely addition to have the fish and the meerkats etc in there too. Prices were reasonable for entry and also in the gift shop in my opinion. The play area is fab outside aswell.
We got there early, around 10.30 and queues for around 20-30 mins. Later in the day the queue was very much longer so would’ve took a lot longer to get in.

Sited in the wonderful Preston Park, Butterfly World is a real delight to visit. Not particularly inexpensive to enter, it contains an abundance of marvellous botanical specimens and some amazing butterflies. My family and I spent time there enjoying the sights and being amazed at the colourful butterflies swarming all around.

I have been to other similar places but this has got to be the best on offer. It was abuzz with beautiful butterflies in full colour and the pond with the fish, the waterfall and the bananas on the tree were interesting added features.. My own personal concern was the keeping of meerkats. Although they did look happy and relaxed I do not like to see wild animals confined unless for breeding purposes if near extinct. . The grandchildren loved them though. The family cost of admission was half the price of other parts of the country and I hope it never changes to help make if affordable for all.

Beautiful butterflies to look at, the meerkats were fun too. Doesn’t take long to look round but the ticket allows you access all day so still good value for money. They could do with enforcing the “no touching” rule as many people just grabbing the poor butterflies!

Please do not visit this place!. Whilst the butterfly house was pretty, with some nice butterflies (maybe three species we saw) and beautiful plant life, the 'bonus' animal displays were a disgrace. A handful of meerkats in a tiny indoor enclosure, and reptiles and chipmunks in small cages at the back. It broke our hearts to see these lovely animals in tiny spaces with no enrichment or space. For e.g, I don't see the need to have a beautiful Australian Blue Tongue in a small glass box in the back of what is meant to be a butterfly attraction. What is the point? He looked sick and had food uneaten. As an Aussie with many blue tongues in our backyard this was really sad for us! If you are in the business of wildlife then you should adequately provide for them and not have them as bonus material to try to make an otherwise lacklustre experience an exciting one, to justify the price. If you are about butterflies, then do butterflies well, not try to dabble in other things that just don't work. Also we asked about the bathrooms and there was none, but the recommended public loos across at the skate park were the worst ever. Three staff sitting behind the counter looking forlorn and annoyed we were there.. the whole place left us feeling yuk.

Brilliant day out. The enclosure itself is very warm so worth leaving coats in the car.

Definitely worth buying food for the fish to see them jumping over each other to get it.

I’d recommend going around, visiting the nearby children’s park and returning again before you leave.

Very reasonable pricing wise allowing you to leave and visit as many times as you wish throughout the day. Filed full of many colourful butterflies flying freely throughout the space.
Selection of animals at the rear with a handful of meerkats to keep you entertained.
You can also pay for food too feed the large carp which swim around.
