Lovely place great food

Just wanted to say what a great job this place is doing. Since the pubs reopened the management and staff have worked hard to put everything in place to keep customers and staff safe . Lovely food as ever I had a really tasty fish pie on the 7th August served out side and would recommend any of the meals . Well worth a visit

Poor service

After taking the dog out for a walk we thought we would call in at the butchers arms for a quick drink and it is dog friendly in the bar area. On arrival it seemed quite busy outside as it was a warm day. We entered the bar area where the bar man was serving a lady, there were two other customer sitting at the bar who had drinks. As i was waiting to be served next, a party of four customer came in, the bar man either very inexperienced or just rude decided to serve them, giving the tasting off the draught beers while I was still waiting to be served. Even the local at the bar shook his head. After around 10-15 mins not being served I decided to leave, we went to the Roebuck next door.

My 9 year old son asked me to write a review after visiting with his grandparents for Sunday lunch yesterday. He wanted me to say that “The Butchers Arms do the best mashed potato ever, the staff were really really lovely and the chocolate fudge cake was tremendous”!
Think we’ll be back! :-)

Excellent food, great price

Had a lovely meal with hubby and kids (15 & 11), we all loved it. Desserts of hot chocolate were huge. It was a tad cold but it is winter outside I guess and not many people in there for a Saturday afternoon so we kept our coats on.

Tea after busy day out.
Aug 2016 • Family
Called in after a day out. 7pm Monday evening.
Nice lady served our drinks and meals.
Small menu, only one vegetarian option.
Meals not huge but cooked to order (were advised of a small wait) but they came out fresh and very hot.
Would try again.

friendly staff and amazing food

Sunday dinner today was one of the best ever if not the best. huge portions of HOME COOKED food and 8 very full and happy bellies. The staff are amazing young and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Matt is a fab guy and was very helpful and compassionate last week when we held my Aunties wake here. If you get the chance to taste their sausage rolls and pork pie then do its superb That was a buffet of kings fabulous food and presentation. I cant recommend them enough. keep up the good work don't change a thing.

We visited on a Friday evening at around 8pm and were greeted with a welcoming face and relaxed dining option. We ordered starters and mains which left us full to bursting, and the food was delicious. Overall great food, great service, and great price.

Excellent for beer, expensive for food

This is one of our local public houses.
The food is above average price for pub grub. I would say the quality of the food is average, I am unsure whether they have changed the chef over the last 6 months. I went for tea with my daughter, who is vegetarian. Unfortunately their was very little choice for her, in fact there was a very small menu. The food portions are large. I am aware they are doing promotions to encourage diners £22.50 for 2 steaks and a bottle of wine, which appears to be good value.
As a person who dines out regular, I would advise them to do smaller portions and rather than focusing on restaurant, gastro pub meals do wider basic choice; I'm sure better advertising of menus would attract passing trade from Alton Towers, especially if food and prices were advertised well on boards outside too and opened at 5pm.
There is also a lovely garden area that has been allowed to over grow; they do have an outside area with ample seating, but this is usually full of adults and smokers. The garden area would focus better for families with younger children.
