Christmas Dinner
Dec 2018
We booked to come in on Christmas day, when booking over the phone we were told that we would need to come in to bring a deposit, which we did. We were then given no futher information about the day only that we were at the 12-2.30 seating. A week before, I had phone calls from the Horseshoe asking to pay in full and that they required a pre order – all of which we were not told at any time when booking, we then had to ring around family to get what their order a week before Christmas so that they could “order your meat.” I was told on the phone that this was all stated on the website, what makes them think I have even looked at the website? Whoever I spoke to then agreed that we could pay in full on the day. We came in on Christmas day seating 12-2.30, we felt like from the moment we came in we were rushed to our seats and told straight away that they required the table back at 1430, Whilst I appriciate they were busy on that day, the money we paid did not relect the service or food that we received, the children were given adult portions which overfaced them, although we had stated that they were children on the pre order, the children ate one potato if that. We were given no coffees or even offered at the end of the meal. Our christmas day meal was definatly one to remember for the wrong reasons. The christmas dinner we did receive was nothing special (average Sunday dinner) not what I would pay £50 for anyway, I did send an email to them after Christmas but no response. Overall Bad Service

Evening Meal for Two
Jan 2020
Haven't been to this pub/restaurant for a while so went on the spur of the moment without booking.
No problem with finding us a table and the service was friendly and, initially, attentive.
My partner ordered Cajun Chicken and I had Lamb Shank. The food came quite quickly and was piping hot unlike some establishments we have visited recently.
While the meals were fine I found meat on my lamb shank quite dry as though it had been frozen or was overcooked. Fortunately there was plenty of gravy. For the price I thought it below standard.
We decided on puddings but unfortunately the attentive service disappeared at this point. We waited that long for someone to take our order that we were on the point of leaving. It was not as though the place was very busy and with five staff on table duty it was quite poor. My partner remarked that this happened the last time we visited and we left without puddings on that occasion.
Overall a pleasant place to eat and the food is hot. Just need to ensure staff remain attentive.

Great find - Fantastic food & atmosphere
Aug 2018 • Couples
We went as a couple in August 18 for the first time after passing it lots of times and always wanting to give it a go. We were not disappointed - the staff were helpful and polite. The food came out hot, with plenty of it and it was delicious also it was great value. 10/ 10. The place was buzzing which was nice to see. I would recommend to anyone but I would recommend you book as it was busy. 😊

Frozen food - too greasy
Mar 2018 • Couples
Went there in the week. Service very good but food disappointing. Greasy, not hot and all deep fried. Fish and chips very disappointing. Bones in fish. Called over the manager and he apologised. Still tried to charge us for the whole meal. When challenged he deducted the meal but clearly wasn’t happy.

Average meal. Too much fried food - too greasy.

Surly barman marred visit!
Oct 2017 • Friends
Reasonable bar food. Pleasant enough surroundings but on this, my first visit, the experience was marred somewhat by the surly and "eye rolling" barman, I felt I was a nuisance. First and last visit. There's many eateries around!

Great staff
Jul 2016 • Friends
The food was loverly but i cant praise the staff enough as they were so attentive...there was a lady behind the bar with black tied up hair and she was so efficient and always had a smile on here face even though they were really busy. The staff make the place have a warm and relaxed feel and very welcoming.

Great food lovely pub.
Jun 2016 • Family
We visited for dinner with our young children.
We sat outside on the patio area so the children could play in the garden.
On arrival to order drinks we we welcomed by a bar maid who had a face like thunder and was very unwelcoming with no interaction skills at all!! ( I think she was Scottish) this was rather off putting and she was rather abrupt.
On ordering our food we then went outside which is a great outdoor eating area and could easily keep an eye on the children.
We were served by some other staff and the woman from behind the bar who again was....shall we say "grumpy".
The other girls were very pleasant. The food was spot on no faults what so ever and would gladly come back, if only the barmaid would smile!!... Dear pub landlord do some thing about the bar maid she is not good for customer relations or giving the type of welcome we should be getting on arrival to your establishment.
This is not a personal judgement, but I do believe that she is not good for your business at such a lovely location.
Would highly recommend for the quality of the food and most of the team.

Microwave food!
Jan 2016 • Friends
A recent visit, don't go there, transport cafe environment, management not a clue even though it's, 'ting food' worst meal ever, makes Wetherspoons look like the Ritz!!! Food a disgrace, probably best
re-branding as, 'microwave food r us', not a Country Inn
