Hanley Park, Stoke-on-Trent: Tickets, Tours, Address, Phone Number, Hanley Park Reviews: 4/5

About
Hanley Park and the adjacent Cauldon Grounds are open to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The park is staffed most days from morning until late afternoon, and we welcomed around 922,000 visitors during 2014. Cauldon Grounds first opened in 1894, and were followed by the larger Hanley Park in 1897. Both were designed by the up-and-coming landscape architect Thomas Mawson, helping to cement his international reputation. Hanley Park's listed status has recently been upgraded to II* in recognition of its importance. The two parks continue to be the focus of many exciting developments. The park has now been awarded £4.5m funding for a once-in-a-lifetime restoration project. The most visible work is set to take place from spring 2016. This is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund through their Parks for People Programme, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. Things to see and do in the park - Art features, including 'Love Ties' sculpture by Emily Campbell - Grade II* listed historic landscape, including bandstand, terrace garden, pavilion, lake, Doulton fountain (in Cauldon Grounds) and views across the park towards Stoke Minster. - Crown green bowling green - Fishing (the park is classed as 'community water,' and all are welcome to fish responsibly with a valid Environment Agency rod licence - Three exciting play areas: toddler, sensory, and adventure (including aerial slide) - Picnic area - Free-of-charge sports zone including: all-weather floodlit sports court, cricket wicket and nets, tennis courts, basketball hoops and a multi-use sports court. - Toilets (open during staffed hours).

Great park to visit
Aug 2021 • Family
Great free park to visit with the family and a picnic on a sunny day (or when it’s not raining). The playground equipment is excellent for challenging young kids, the gardens are well maintained and everyone in the cafe is friendly and welcoming.

What an incredible park
Jul 2021
I've seen some beautiful parks in cities in quite a few countries and for me this one can be compared to the very best.

The amazing bit where the park slopes up past the canal and continues on the other side, I've never seen anything quite like it.

It should be celebrated, it is very special.

Great few hours to ease lockdown restrictions
Jun 2020
If like us you are seeking places that are SAFE and fun during lockdown then Hanley Park has it all, a fine example of a Victorian Park that has been updated for the 21st Century, huge by some standards 10 times as large as the park we recently visited in Newcastle Under Lyme, it has it all albeit some things are closed at the moment such as the café there are fountains, waterways, quiet walks, bandstand, children's play areas, landscaped gardens, quiet seating areas, nature areas and much, much more.

It is one of the best examples of a park we have visit and time permitting a "must see" attraction in Stoke on Trent, a credit to the people and Council of Stoke on Trent.

Investment in the city
May 2020
A really lovely and interesting park in the city you can see that the council have put investment in the park. Everything had seen better days and decayed over the years but now they have done something about it and made it a beautiful park. The canal runs right through it so when bike riding like myself i get off at the park and bike through on the paths. Somewhere to go on sunny days and to get your daily exercise in the daily situation we are facing with the lockdown.

A Hot Butty on a Cold Day
Feb 2020 • Couples
The cafe at Hanley Forrest Park is amazing it’s all take out but you can sit in your car with all the view of the lake and birds and watch the world go by ending your hot sandwich and coffee or tea. The staff are so good the guy even delivered ours to the car you can’t get better service than that thank you

Rejuvenated
Jan 2020 • Couples
Excellent park that has had a lot of hard work put in it. There are better facilities now, such as cricket nets, football five a side pitch, and all the pathways have been renewed. The buildings inside the park have all, or are in the process of being rejuvenated. The landscape and grass is very well kept.
