We regularly visit the Horse & Jockey pub. The choice of cask beers is fantastic and the staff are always warm and friendly even during the busy periods which is often, as its such a poular watering hole!

We went to visit friends in Lichfield in Staffordshire today and decided to go to lunch.
Our friend who we were visiting said we should try the Horse and Jockey so off we went.
The pub is not that old but is certainly typical of an English pub and the staff are friendly and efficient.
We got some drinks and ordered some food, one ordered the duck breast, another ordered a pie of some sort from the specials board and I ordered the mixed grill which was only GBP16.
I have not seen such a large mixed grill ever, it had some of everything .. eggs, different types of mushrooms, pork, steak, lamb, chips, peas.
It was quite tasty and I managed to get through it all.
My friends said their meals were tasty also.
We had another drink and left .. we had to drive back to Northampton before the traffic got bad and on the way I was being anesthetized by the volume of food I had eaten ... my body was diverting blood from my brain to my stomach ... I had to stop at a services on the M1 and get a coffee and stretch my legs (no, they are not short).
So if you want a great meal and lots of it, go to the Horse and Jockey.

Popped in for a quick pint with the old man. We were standing at the bar for a minute or so but must've been invisible as some bloke called Tim (must've been a local) pushed right in front of us and Tom the barman served him. It was as if we weren't even there! Local pub for local people I guess. We ended up in the angel down the road which was a lot more welcoming.

This is possibly the best bar in Lichfield. Good service, good beer and always a good atmosphere - even the food is good. Not one for the children, but that's sometimes a good thing.

Popular Lichfield local pub serving a variety of excellent ales, wine and spirits.
Food served 12 until 3pm , Tuesday to Saturday. At all other times you can get pork pies , olives and cheese boards.
Food is traditional and well worth trying .

A proper traditional pub with a choice of great beers and a friendly face behind the bar. The place was spotlessly clean too. We had a Packington Pork Pie there for lunch - only £4.50 and enough for two of us for a light nibble. The beer was well kept and we could not have wanted more
