Friendly-feeling, always welcoming. Dark decor where you can reflect. Attracts Goths - no bad thing. Live music, but the side-effects of that the rest of the time are more important, or at least I think so. It's in the freeholder's hands now, but it looks like the door has shut on a terrific Pub.

Headbangers galore always make for an entertaining night, be warned, you will join in after a few delicious Bee Stings. Pool tables upstairs are in good knick.

Beesting

The Hobgoblin is one of those pubs that is geared towards rock music and grungy, metal, gothic kind of people. It's not my kind of place but I can definitely see the appeal. I only go here because the sell the beesting - quite possibly the sweetest and most intoxicating cider. And also the big as pool tables upstairs.

Nice selection of ales. Good atmosphere if you like heavier music. Had a random group or medieval morris dancers(?) pop in and do a little dance. To be fair they were very good. Will definitely return the next time I'm in Bath.

Dingy, rock/ metal music- just what I was looking for!
So after searching for 'metal bars bath' I scrolled through the list of bathroom accessories and towel racks and found this place. Good atmosphere, good music, great selection of drinks and friendly staff.

Good rock bar
Jul 2016 • Friends
I visited with a couple of friends for a couple of afternoon drinks, and the place made me feel strangely nostalgic. It was reminiscent of rock bars I frequented as a student. This does mean taking some of the good with the bad, though. If you would feel uncomfortable in a rock bar and/or are looking for something with a more upmarket feel, this is not the place for you. If you like rock music and don't mind some sticky spots on your table, you will very much enjoy it! It had quite a "local" feel, but one of the bartenders was very friendly and we had a good conversation whilst I ordered a round. My first drink was a lager, which was a bit flat. I ordered a different lager second time around, which was much better.

The greatest bar in Bath

I can not speak highly enough of this pub - everything about it is great! I love the decor, the beer, the music, the atmosphere & the staff! The landlords (Darren & Eszter) do an amazing job of running the place the way this type of place should be run! There is no overzealousness at all & I thoroughly recommend this pub if you are into great music & great beer - I also recommend you try the Bee Sting cider, it's top stuff!

Go here for real ales, rock and metal
Jul 2015 • Couples
Good selection of real ales - Hobgoblin and Bath Ales. Good selection of rock and metal on the jukebox. We went on a quiet night but they obviously have regular live music and events in the downstairs bit. Pity we were only in Bath for one night, would definitely pop back if we're there again.
