Firstly , the name is misleading. This is not a Bath skyline walk. There is a small section where you can see Bath but the walk turns away from Bath and you have a pretty standard walk through fields and woods. It's fine if that's what you want but it Bath Skylkne is a huge exaggeration. Sadly like most walks these days much of it is on paths with barbed wire fencing both sides of you so any sense of freedom to roam quickly disappears. The 12 market posts do not seem to have stood the test of time , we could only see 4 or 5 , we were in the right pla e just that the markets were gone. Take it for what it is along walk 3.5hrs with not much to see

What a gorgeous walk. We parked along the road by the Bath Clinic and ended up doing the walk anti-clockwise, which I would say is easier. The downside are the lack of clear directions, fortunately there are so many people around that there is always someone to double check you’re on the correct path!! We walked with three dogs so took a leisurely pace and were out from 11 until nearly 4pm, take a picnic as you don’t pass a shop, cafe or pub 🥲 I would say it’s more strenuous than stated non the less a really enjoyable day. Sturdy shoes needed as some places were very muddy and rocky underfoot.

This is a delightful walk around the edge of the city. One of the advantages is that it can be broken down into smaller sections - walking up to Sham castle and through the University to Claverton Down or out through Bathwick meadows or onto Priory Park

The views over the city are stunning with plenty of places to sop, rest and picnic ...lovely

This is a great walk that takes you out of the city and up to the hills where you have really good views of the city. The route is well sign posted and easy to follow.
I would describe this as a medium effort walk as there are a few steep hills but is is a walk you can take at your own pace and enjoy the countryside around Bath. Recommended.

Great 4 - 4½ hour walk, especially with our dog. Mostly well signposted but a map is also helpful. We parked up near point 9 (on some trail maps) on Claverton Down Road to the south of the Skyline walk. Fantastic views of the city of Bath (western sections of the walk) also woodland and meadows full of wild flowers in May. You can walk it in shorter segments of course, and there are lots of intersections with other footpaths. Some steeper parts. Would award five stars if there were some cafes on the route itself! We'd recommend Dexter's cafe (closed Tuesdays) or Holburne museum cafe - both are a detour off the main skyline walking trail though. It's a wonderful and very scenic walk.

As me and my husband are keen runners, we decided to run Skyline during our weekend break in Bath. We started off on foot in town and entered via Cleveland Walk (up an unmarked alley opp Sham Castle Lane). It was a great mix of terrain, but be careful as some of it can be very slippery in the woods. The views were stunning when we got to them and I loved the open spaces. The only annoying thing was the signage, which wasn't clear at all so we went off track a few times. I'm not sure if the tiny yellow markers need to be that inconspicuous for aesthetic reasons?

Really nice walk with some great views but the only advise that I can give anyone is to do the walk in a clockwise direction.
The sighnage that tells you that you are on the Skyline on posts going anti clockwise is very hit and miss but clockwise generally is pretty good . Have to say slightly confused by this ?

Thanks for the review Dennis and yes, we always advise going clockwise for signage and the very best views.

Excellent views of Bath and a great varied walk, with fields and forest, up hill and down hill. Fairly easy to follow the signs but we did get lost at various points so we think that the national trust could do with a couple more signs at certain points to help guide the way more clearly.
Would definitely recommend.

A really enjoyable and varied walk with a few steep climbs through stunning autumnal woodland and with superb views of Bath. We were lucky to spot a jay early on in the walk and a buzzard towards the end. It's very well marked and easy to follow though we took a few short detours, one to see Sham Castle, another to look at the American Museum entrance and one to look in the Smallcombe Gardens Cemetery. We managed to find free on street parking in Cleveland Walk near Sham Castle Lane which was handy. We also printed out the National Trust guide to the walk from their website and downloaded the walk on Alltrails just in case we got lost but we had no problem. We covered about 7 miles including the few additions.

This is a very enjoyable walk through undulating countryside on the outskirts of Bath. If you are expecting glorious views of Bath throughout then you will be disappointed. You do see great views of Bath but only at the beginning and the last 10% of the walk.
A lot of the walk is through woods ( here be careful as some markers are missing) and fields .
There have been previous comments about parking. We managed to park in an unrestricted area on north road towards top which is right by marker 2 and this was great. There are no refreshments along route so take plenty of water and snacks. The NT website indicated you could get refreshments at the cats and dogs home cafe but this closed down in Covid. Would recommend you print off the directions from the NT website.
