Nice walk
Oct 2021 • Couples
We walked the canal from Bath to Bathampton. It’s a nice easy walk with lots to see. Lots of boats are parked up and there are locks on this section of the canal. Worth walking.

Great walk even on a cloudy day
Oct 2019 • Couples
We crossed over the Churchill Bridge and joined the river pathway connecting quickly with the Kennet & Avon Canal towpath. It was a lot of fun walking along the canal and learning some of the history from the illustrated plaques and poster signs along the way. With the appropriate data plan, you can take advantage of QR codes for even more information. We chose to listen later. Along the way we met a volunteer who gave us additional information about the canal. Our turnaround point was a coffee at the George pub, then we walked back as far as the Sydney Gardens and cut back into Bath at that point. Fabulous hike with only a few slight steps for elevation gain. You will definitely be away from the tourist groups on this adventure.

An escape from the city
Aug 2019
Raised up above Bath its worth a trip up to the Kennet and Avon canal and a walk along the footpath. Plenty of quirky gardens to view, the moored boats and bridges to negotiate. Great way to move around the city.

Lunchtime stop at Bathampton on canal boat trip.
Aug 2017 • Family
The stretch of the Kennet and Avon Canal that passes through the Avon Valley east of Bath is a very attractive stretch. We stopped at Bathampton on our canal boat trip to fill the water tank. While at Bathampton we walked along the tow path and visited the nearby George Inn for a very good pub lunch.
It is also possible to take a water bus trip along the canal from Bath to Bathampton.
