Too big for a one-man show
This was the venue for a Michael Palin one-man show. It’s far too big for something like that. Poor sound system meant it was difficult to hear and Mr Palin really didn’t fill the space. A shame, there are better venues in Bath.

Clean venue but uncomfortable if you need leg room in front of you.
Went to see Miriam. A bit of waiting around to get in (I am on crutches). Shame the staff couldn’t have been discreet & allowing me in to take a seat. The seats are uncomfortable, not a lot of leg room for my knees. Could do with a seating area with better leg room, or a note online about the leg room for disabled / mobility guests. Staff accommodating when I left, suggested I use the lift, rather than the steps - thank you. Was a lovely suggestion, I was rather touched.

    Adequate
I don't often visit two different venues in the same week so this is an interesting opportunity to compare. Again, this is purely a review of the venue and not the show that we saw. As we were a little early, we were directed to the downstairs cafe/bar where the whole atmosphere was a little chaotic as the staff seemed to be unprepared for patrons wanting drinks before a show. The auditorium itself is better that some theatres of a similar age with adequate legroom, although the comfort of the seats still leaves something to be desired. The main issue was that it was incredibly hot - we were sat on the end of a row, right next to large heaters making it very uncomfortable after a while. The other thing I noticed was a slight lack of any sense of occasion - when the show ended, the lights came bac on as if someone had just flicked a switch, rather than the usual fade up. Finally, and I appreciate that this is beyond the control of the theatre, it now seems impossible for some patrons to stay in their seats during the show. Each half lasted no more than an hour yet some were up and down multiple times, frequently disturbing others.

    Location good
Bath is sadly lacking with entertainment venues. Location great but it needs a major refurb. Have seen some excellent acts there but last night went to the Bootleg Beatles and while they were great the seats we had (near the front) had big holes in them with springs exposed and the staff do nothing to stop clients coming from the back to obstruct the view of those who have front row seats. Come on Bath spend some money to smarten up the seats!!!

Forced to sit 😒 for 80s dance band.
We saw Tom Bailey last night who was great. Our problem was not being able to go to the front for a little dance. I saw Nick Heyward last year and everyone who wanted to were able to dance at the front. This time we were virtually frog marched away and this felt embarrassing. An 80s band like Thompson Twins ....and forced to sit down. I would advise anyone to not see an act at the Forum that is even slightly danceable ......if you want to be forced to sit then it may be the venue for you 😏

On Nov 15th my friend & I treated another friend to The Bowie Experience for her 60th birthday. She had been shopping before the show and had to take over £50 worth of presents for a relative's new baby into the Forum with her. The cardboard carrier bag was placed under her seat in row J, between my friend & I. Just before the show began, aware that 3 women were sat directly behind us, one tried to persuade one of us to get up and dance, another moved backwards and forwards between their row and the front row by the stage with a drink in her hand. During the first half I realised that girl behind my friend next to me was slumped forward with her head in her hands. No sign of her 2 friends. On 2 occasions security staff asked her if she was ok, presumably she responded to them, as they went away. We were enjoying show, but eventually heard someone behind us say something about someone vomiting on the floor. We immediately picked up our coats and bags from the floor to check this out, and the carrier bag was worst item affected, outside corner & bottom of bag covered in vomit, difficult to see in the dark, but horrible to touch. Thankfully lights went on for the interval, and inspected the damage to carrier bag outside in the foyer. Got staff member to find replacement carrier bag to put baby items in. Tried to get other staff members to come and clean up the floor,15 mins later someone arrived with only a huge roll of blue paper towel, no protective gloves, no water, spray cleaner, mop & bucket, by then the interval was over & lights went down, cleaning up not properly finished. We 3 were offered different seats in the back row, alongside others who'd been affected either by sitting next to or behind the 3 women.None of us happy with lack of action/ management response. Waited ages after show to see Venue Events Mgr, still waiting now to hear if/how we will be compensated, as he promised on the night he would be in touch. Poorly managed venue, too much alcohol, not enough staff to cope with persuading drunk people to vacate the venue. Poor communication in dealing with people affected on the night, and shameful that we're still waiting for the Events Mgr to speak with us 2 months later, after my friend and I both sent e-mails & visited Forum reception to check that e-mails were getting through. I bought the tickets through a website, contact should not have been a problem as Events Mgr, while not giving us his name on the night, made a note of my name then. So disappointing, more customer consideration please.

Went a number of times in December. Had my handbag searched under security, but main appeared to be to take sweets off you. I asked why the sweets were being taken, and was told they were sticky and might harm the seats. The bar upstairs sells the very same sweets. I spent £120 on our two seats, and they want to ring more money out of you. Women disproportionately impacted by the bag search - hubby who had his sweets in his pocket walked right in. Don’t pretend to do a security check, when you are actually policing food to force people to buy overpriced food from your bar. Staff were also really miserable. People were recording on their phones throughout, but not one single intervention from staff. Really gone down hill at The Forum and no longer have my business. Put your sweets in your pocket!

November 2022, spent a fantastic evening with Will Young and his superb band. Audience was on good form everyone appeared to be enjoying the event.
Personally we love the venue it is older but that added to its character, we sat in the stalls and had a great view from row E, we found the seats comfortable with good leg room, I would recommend you give the venue a go as the acts are well worth seeing.

I can't speak for the usual audience at this theatre, but for the recent BBC Symphony Orchestra concert the behaviour was exemplary & quieter than most I have been to. It was lovely to see a fair number of children at a classical music event. Staff we interacted with were pleasant. A few seats needed repairs, which seems to be ongoing, but ours, in the upper part of the Circle, were comfortable. The decor was quite mesmerising, being so close to the ceiling & a lot of Art Deco features have been retained. The acoustic was very good & the Circle is good for such a concert. Unusually for where there is a captive audience the drinks were affordable & included draught cider & beer, so I did not have to buy more than I wanted.

A really disappointing first visit to The Forum. The performers we saw were excellent and the sound was good. However, I don't feel that audience safety during a pandemic was taken seriously and we left early. Big queues at the bars for drinks during the intermission but no hot drinks (tea/coffee) available. My seat for which I paid £80 was in an absolutely shocking condition (see pic) and after messaging The Forum the following morning, there was no offer of compensation. Poor customer service.

Went to see the Waterboys who were great (except no sax). So annoying that so many people came in to take their seats after the band started causing a kerfuffle. Presumably from the bar as all clutching drinks. Management should not allow this disruption to people already seated and enjoying the music. Must also be annoying for the band. Also, small complaint: selection and quality of the drinks in offer very poor. Otherwise a surprising jewel of a venue.

This is a general review regarding the Forum venue itself and not the acts I saw there.
I have seen 2 acts there in recent times, The Australian Pink Floyd and Squeeze. For both shows I was in the circle and both shows were completely and utterly ruined.
The Forum have a policy of serving alcohol during the performance. This has 2 consequences, the first being the endless number of mainly men leaving their seats to buy ale. The second being their need to leave their seats to visit the WC. For Squeeze there was one middle aged man hardly able to stand he was so intoxicated.
Whilst the Forum obviously make money with this policy, they have no concern or desire to provide a venue suitable for all and not just the minority of alcoholic dependent folk that attend such shows.
The policy won’t change I fear as the shows I see usually sell out.
So if your bag is watching either men block your view and disturb the line of seated people to buy drinks and then 15 minutes later do the same to relieve themselves then the Forum is the place for you. Good luck to you, sadly I won’t be spending any more of my hard earned there.

Lovely ornate building. Visited here to see a celebratory show which was fantastic

Had a meet & greet ticket but location at venue for queuing was unclear.

Staff are very helpful

There are lifts inside for patrons who require accessibility facilities

Would visit here again as venue is close to my place of residence.

Have visited here a few times now for different concerts. The venue is perfectly located in the city centre to use public transport, parking and local restaurants for a cheeky pre concert drink.

We have always found the venue to be very well run and is a genuinely great place to see live music. Love it!

Apparently patrons are not allowed to take a chocolate bar into the events. Oh dear, my wife messed-up!!
Her chocolate bar was taken from her handbag on entry and eaten by someone else (probably the guard who searched her). Seriously.
The management say she should have paid for the cloakroom to guard it for her. Well, she wasn't told that, and was assured that she would get it back - she didn't.
If you value your sweeties, your chocolate, or mints....AVOID.
