lovely place with lots of history

The way up to the castle is beautiful. The grounds are immaculate and the buildings have an interesting history. The museum itself is super and has such a rich and excellent history. Ask plenty of questions if you wish the guides are very knowledgable.

Well worth a visit

So much detail and authenticity. History goes back to the mid 1700s, and I found the pre 20th century exhibits particularly interesting. An awful lot packed into such a small space. I had to skip the lower floor (WW1 and WW2) as I had spent 90 minutes on the first floor. Well worth a visit.

Not huge, but interesting to visit

Quite a small museum, set in the remaining part of Shrewsbury Castle. A fair amount of exhibits inside and displayed well in a beautiful building.

The museum is located within the castle and is very well set out to show the history of Shropshire Regiment. The display of medals is very impressive and the staff are very helpful and informative.

This is on 2 flpors. To get to the basement you have to go down a very steep flight of stairs which I could not face.I was about to leave the museum when one of the staff offered to take me directly to the basement level. So I got to see a lot more of the museum than otherwise. It was very interesting.

Really worth visiting - museum and castle
Aug 2020 • Family
We took our teenage children to visit the castle, having been married there 20 odd years ago, and finally decided to see the military museum. Just as well we did, what a find, remarkable history and very well laid out and presented. Fascinating history, artefacts and setting. Well worth the visit.

Excellent for history and military buffs
Mar 2020
Well laid out rooms and cases of uniforms and medals. So much detail shows the dedication which the curators and volunteers have given to this project. Also of interest is the history of the castle, with the main hall being used for council meetings, with some of the original solid wood furniture on display. Helpful and informative volunteers on hand.
