We had a great walk around Shrewsbuty with a very knowledgable guide and even went into Charles Darwin room of birth. I was aware that Charles had lived in Kent, although I have not yet visited his home, but was not aware that he had been brought up in Shrewsbury. I highly recommend this tour.

I guess the walk experience rather depends on the interests and personality of the walk leaders. Ours was friendly, informative and quite knowledgeable. The walk itself was fairly short but varied in terms of slopes and cobbled surfaces. Large amounts of information kept the 12 of us entertained and there were many questions that she handled well. An interesting experience.... More

Once visiting Shrewsbury, you should take a walking tour. A ticket costs £5, and it takes about 90 minutes to walk around. A guide will take you from place to place giving historical facts about the city and places. You can buy a ticket at the tourist information centre, situated right behind the Market Hall.

To be perfectly honest it should not be called the Darwin walk. The only place that even merely relates to him is his birth place at the house on the Mount part if Shrewsbury. He was only born in Shrewsbury and actually never did anything for the town or contributed to it. No t worth going in an I don't... More

The walk can be gained either from the web or the tourist information centre. There is parking just outside the tourist information centre as well as other car parks too. The walk helps bring to life Darwins life and achievements. The walk takes around 2 hours to complete and is not overly arduous. It takes in several key points in... More
