Closed and museum moved
Rowleys House is now the administrative HQ of the new University Centre Shrewsbury. The museum and all exhibits have been moved about 5 minutes away to the Music Hall, Market Street, which is excellent.

The Jewel in Shrewsbury's crown

This is the most beautiful, in my opinion, building in Shrewsbury which for many years was our museum but now is where the Tourist Information is housed. In April our new museum will be oped in th Music Hall nearby after about 3 yers of complete renovation and promisis to be a very special place to visit.

Rowley's House
Jul 2013 • Solo
Rowley's House is an integral part of the Shrewsbury scene and one of the most historic buildings in Shropshire, if not the West Midlands. Composed of two halves, one brick the other half timbered, Rowley's House goes back to at least the early 17th century and probably before that. The building itself is well worth looking at and the Museum's contents display a great deal of the town's history as well as pieces from Wroxeter, the Roman town, and Shropshire as a whole.
A good place to visit for an hour to absorb the history of the area. And it's free!

Loved all the history but felt it was lacking in atmosphere somehow. More on Darwin would have been welcome.

Everyone should visit this place. Its not just for tourists to get information. Upstairs is the Museum with some treasures. The building is amazing. One of Shrewsburys gems.

Good day out!

We had a lovely day out in Shrewsbury! We started out by train and visited the museum first. It was very interesting and the views from the tower were spectacular! The flowers were gorgeous! There was a wedding party expected and it was a lovely sunny day for it!

Great for information-lovely helpful staff

We visit Shrewbury on a regular basis but needed information about places to visit in the area as we had friends coming with us. The information centre at Rowley's House is excellent. Lots of free leaflets and staff who were really great at giving advice. As well as the information service there was also a small exhibition of local historical interest (I understand this is temporary until the new museum opens at the old Music Hall site). If you visit Shrewsbury go here to get really good advice on where to visit and where to stay.
