marvelous building

sadly we could not go inside on the day we were there due to time restraints but from the outside you can see the wonderful stained glass and really get a feel of this great building, we would love to get a chance to go inside should we be in the area again

lovely historical church
Sep 2019
I usually visit here about once a year, mainly to take part in classical music concerts. It has lovely acoustics to play in.

I am also taken by the lovely windows and painted glass. A lovely historical church.

Wonderful
Sep 2019 • Solo
Very much of the stained glass here fell victim to acts of vandalism, including from the puritans, over the years but, as you walk in, you cannot fail to be amazed by the glorious east window. One of Eginton's and truly wonderful. If you are lucky there may be music playing and you can sit and look your fill. Then turn around and look West.

Striking window

This is a large Anglican church with a spire which dominates the nearby skyline. It is an old stone church, and fairly bare inside, but the outstanding feature is the painted window above the altar of the Virgin Mary standing by a fallen Cross - an unusual image, but also painted in brown. It is very striking.

One of our beautiful churches

If you have a chance to visit Shrewsbury go to st Alkmunds. The main window is not stained glass but painted glass. Stunning. It is in the vicinity of st mary’s and st Julian’s. If you can get there for sunset the light coming through is stunning xxx

Very welcoming!

We were staying at the hotel across the cobbled courtyard, and I saw this lovely church from our window! Not a believer in the strictest sense, but happy to embrace the meaning in the metaphor, was welcomed to Sunday morning service by just the loveliest, down to earth and genuine people!

Lovely old church
Mar 2019 • Couples
We chanced upon this lovely old stone church, parts of which date back to the fifteenth century, during our short stay in Shrewsbury and there was lovely organ music playing – very atmospheric and well worth visiting.

Another fine Shrewsbury church

The tower and spire of St Alkmunds are fifteenth century, but the main body of the church was demolished and rebuilt in Gothic Revival style at the end of the 18th century. The church is very light inside, and has an impressive font. Behind the alter is a painted window depicting the Virgin standing on a fallen cross.

lovely building and surroundings
Apr 2018 • Couples
As a musician I do get the opportunity to perform in this lovely building. More recently I went as a member of the audience to a concert there.

It is a lovely building with plenty to hold the interest. The grounds are small, but quite pleasant to sit in. Loads of historical buildings and streets in the vicinity in all directions, as you approach St Alkmunds.
