Beautiful place
Oct 2021
Went here three times during a week with dog's. Very safe and loads of paths to take. shame main carpark is closed after 3pm week days and all weekend. But there is other parking nearby

Lovely woodland walk
Aug 2021 • Couples
We parked at Vinnels car park (free), plenty of space and some picnic benches. Having previously walked the Vinnels loop we decided to do the Climbing Jack route which encompasses all the routes and takes in the whole forest. It is 9-10miles and took us 4 hours (with a couple of wrong turns). Signposting is very hit and miss....sometimes lots and sometimes none to be seen. I would recommend taking a photo of route map and following that when unsure. Lovely panoramic views on top of surrounding hills. A few benches dotted around, varied gradients and great places to spot wildlife, we saw some various birds and even 2 deer cross our path! Great place for afternoon woodland walk.

A nice wheelchair walk and picnic
Jul 2021 • Family
We went for a family walk on the All ability trail - the steep inclines and slightly uneven terrain were a little tricky for the wheelchair user in our party, but there were plenty of picnic benches and lovely spots to eat. The kids enjoyed watching the dragonflies at the pond and the walk was a good distance for all ages. We’d suggest using a wheelchair suitable for off-road terrain and someone with strong arms to push up hills!!

A good walk on a hot day
Jul 2021
Any of the carparks in the forest will lead to a signposted walk (not always frequent or easy to spot). This is a good place for a hot day but one tree does tend to look like another so not that exciting

A jolly decent bit of woodland
Jun 2021
Plenty of miles of walking to be had here. Although in a previous life I spent years within a short drive, I never actually explored the forest, so the June visit was a trip down what should have been a memory lane. Easy route planning from the car park and fairly hard to get lost if you follow the basic routes. There's plenty of scope for going off-piste too, and discovering foxes, deer, surprise views across valleys. Worth returning with bicycles at some point in the close future.

A Great Day Exploring the Forest....
May 2021
Enjoyed a lovely day walking and exploring the trails of Mortimer Forest. The weather was great and we were staying on the edge of the forest. There are plenty of forestry trails to follow and enjoy the scenery. Take a flask and some sandwiches and soak up the tranquility of the forest.
Overall a great day out.

Lovely woodland walk for everyone.
May 2021 • Couples
Beautiful forest. Good variety of walks, 1 mile loop around woods on good accessible path for prams or wheelchairs. 3 mile walk taking in forest and view from top of the hill. Panoramic view. We will do the 9 mile walk next time when weather is better. Plenty of free parking. We saw a deer in the forest too. Walks have good signage easy to follow. Picnic benches dotted around woods and also in car park.

Tranquil walking and fossil hunting in the Autumn sun
Oct 2020
The extensive Mortimer Forest to the west of Ludlow is a great place to go for a hike, whether as a family, with friends or as a couple. There are car-parks and trails and the autumn colours make the area one of my favourite to visit at this time of year. There are fungi in the damp ground and you also come across eroded patches of rock which can be good for fossils; it's worth picking up a local fossil book from one pf the shops in Ludlow so you know what you are looking for and finding; a really great place for some simple exercise and to enhance your child's nature education.

A nice, pleasant walk.
Sep 2020
As the weather was so glorious on the weekend we visited Ludlow we decided to go for a local walk. We decided to head to Mortimer Forest and head up to High Vinnalls to enjoy the view. It is not a hard walk and doesn't take that long (1 1/2hrs round trip in total from the car park). It was a pleasant walk and we enjoyed the views from the top, being fortunate to visit on such a clear day. Whilst this is an easy, enjoyable walk, if you want something a little more challenging maybe search other walks in the area.

A lovely, quiet place but more signs please.
Sep 2020
A beautiful forest with both short and long walks.

Oh for more signs .....routes were not signed well in the car parks and not that obvious on the way round.

And you Forest Rangers...help us all to learn our English trees by labelling them...how else will we all know what they are !!
