Wandered upon the little shop

What a delight, wandered in and the artist and his partner are there to chat to. Explained various pieces and were absolutely lovely. I saw a new miniature piece he had done and fell in love with it. Would recommend highly the atmosphere is nice, art is displayed well and being talked through a piece is a brilliant way to bring it to life. Will be keeping an eye on this artist and will be looking for more pieces to buy.

I commissioned a painting which has turned out very well

I visited the gallery/studio soon after it opened and liked the work. I returned later and commissioned a painting of my house. It is excellent and extremely good value. I last visited before Christmas and there was excellent work on display.

Small Art Gallery
Feb 2017 • Couples
This is a small art gallery containing an artists original art and prints.
The gallery is worth seeking out as it contains some very nice pictures and prints.
The prices are reasonable and there is something for every pocket.

Tucked away....but worth looking for...
Dec 2016 • Couples
This lovely studio is tucked away in Pepper Lane. Andy is a great local artist who really has a feel for Ludlow. We have bought several prints as gifts for special friends who have always been delighted to receive them.
There is something for everyone here - not too expensive at all.

Meet the artist

Pepper House Studio is owned and run by Andy Nash (painter) and Sandra Shields (writer and poet). You'll find them behind the main street where Andy is usually creating something lovely (I bought some of his lovely hand-painted gift cards).

Artist now based in Ludlow producing deliciously quirky artworks of mainly local landmarks and buildings

Andy Nash's studio is just off one of Ludlow's main streets and is worth seeking out if you are looking for a memento of a visit or a present for someone no longer here.

Andy is a proper artist and his work is way above the standard "souvenir" art which is tourists are generally tempted to take home -- and all the better for that. His subject matter may well include some recognisable old faithfuls like the Castle, the Feathers and the Butter Cross, but they are usually done somehow differently - either from a different location, or with a slightly odd perspective, or using different colourways or finishes. The effect is of seeing something familiar but which is not quite the same.

For me Andy's best works are his ink and wash works which are available as originals or as signed fine art prints. But "line"is important to Andy's work and understandably he also does linocuts, again with Ludlow's historic architecture the main subject matter. Away from Ludlow Andy has done some other excellent work but understandably he plays to his strengths and buildings are again the predominant theme.

Like many artists Andy frames his own work to stay competitive but is happy to also supply prints and paintings unframed.

The studio is central but not easy to find -- you need to go down the street by Carvell's Tea Rooms and it is at the bottom on the left.
