Muddy
Jan 2021
Mud,Mud.

Did this on 3rd Jan. A pleasant two mile amble around the reservoir with decent views over the reservoir particularly from the dam end. Be warned though ..at this time of year it is very muddy in many places. Wellies or walking boots required..no high heels!
Combined this walk with More Hall res. This has a much better path on one side of the reservoir but the other side means road walking. However it is not a busy road. Doing both reservoirs together equates to about four and a half miles.

one of my favourite runs/walks

if you park at the entrance off the main road and run from there to the reservoir and round in a circle its about 5k. There's also the opportunity to walk up past the weird shaped house (past very smelly water works) up to the next reservoir - which has the most beautiful views.
great place for frogs, conkers, bird watching
but please please pick up your dog poo!

Lovely day spent walking
Jun 2015 • Family
I'm guessing people's first impression would be to think that a reservoir isn't going to be a good place to go. How wrong you are!! This is a hidden little gem that offers a lovely walk around the reservoir and some amazing views of the Peak District. We originally went there just to do some geocaching but ended up staying the whole day exploring. This is a fantastic place to take the family on a cheap day out, take a picnic and spend the day. There is plenty of places to park (for free) and many routes to take and explore some great countryside. Highly recommend a visit if you like walking, exploring, cycling and just being outside. Suitable for a family or just someone who wants to escape the hustle and bustle of a busy life. It's not ideal for wheelchair users and buggies.
