Nice location but......
Sep 2021
Fine if you are travelling with children, but otherwise the play area outside means an awful lot of noise. 3pm-7pm.

Unfortunately the hospitality tray contained half eaten biscuits, so concerned about it's cleanliness in COVID times......please double check your rooms before letting them out!

Very small room, very soft bed if you like one (unfortunately I don't!)

Good breakfast. Nice staff. Lovely location.

Good for family meal
Sep 2019
Had quite a good selection of gluten-free meals at reasonable prices. Most staff helpful & friendly. Food was ok and having an option of smaller portions was good.

Great wedding venue
Sep 2019 • Family
My brother and sister in law got married at Cubley yesterday! Perfect venue for an amazing Wedding, stunning views beautiful decor. Every single member of staff were very accomodating and helpful. Thank you so much to everyone at cubley hall!
I would highly recommend a visit even for food, drink and the views. My little boy also had lots of fun on the kids play area( added bonus).

I have just photographed my friends wedding here and I can not praise this place enough the staff are brilliant and the girls who dressed up the venue well done it looked fantastic. The food was excellent and I am a fussy eater.
Finally the dj is exelent and really gives 100% all in all you can not really go wrong so all the staff give yourself a pat on the back.

Wedding
Sep 2018 • Friends
The wedding was perfect, everything was caterered for by the staff. They couldn’t do more for us or our guests. The food is delicious and ‘The Barn’ is perfect for a wedding ceremony and reception. Lovely location for photos. The wedding co-ordinatory and evening DJ did an amazing job. Everything we wanted. Perfect day.

Worst night of sleep ever
Aug 2018 • Couples
Don't stay here if you are 6 feet tall or more. The bed was so short that I, at 6 feet tall, couldn't even lie flat on my back with my feet flexed because of the end on the bed and therefore spent most of the night with major cramp. The toilet flush was so weak that we had to fill the bin with water to flush and the shower didn't keep a regular temperature. We were told the door to the room locked automatically after us, good job we checked because it didn't and was a real pain to lock and unlock.

Fathers day at Cubley Hall
Jun 2018 • Family
Visited with daughter and family on fathers day. Superb location for hall and barn. Grounds are very scenic overlooking Penistone. All staff are very friendly and helpful. We all had a carvery in the barn and it was superb. You have to be hungry to have this meal. Had drinks in the hall first and then the barn. very reasonably priced. We will highly recommend to anyone who will listen and will be back for more.

Summer fun
May 2018
Not been here for a while. Summer, very busy outside and in.
Food ok, and delivered pretty quickly.
Tetleys ale great, just getting a bit pricey.

Nice little hotel on the edge of town
Sep 2017 • Couples
An historical looking pub, restaurant and hotel, formerly a manor house, children's home and now hotel. Although a little on the shabby side, it is quaintness overcomes this. The welcome was friendly. The pub itself was quite busy when we were there and, although we didn't eat in the restaurant, the food being served looked good portions and very appetising. The room (No. 6) was small with a lot of pine furniture but it was fine for a one night stay. The mattress was quite hard, but we found it comfortable. Good shower with toiletries provided. Nice tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits! The breakfast was cooked to order - we had English but there was continental and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Cereal was available, with dried fruits. I asked for yoghurt and this was served to me. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We were visiting relative nearby and it is an ideal base - I would stay here again. There is pleasant outside area, if the weather had been nicer!

Beautiful setting, close to local attractions
Oct 2016 • Family
The staff here were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were spotless and comfortable and the shower powerful. The food was very reasonable and hearty, breakfast was amazing! The pub itself has lots of old charm; the building is beautiful. With ample free parking and a lovely garden, we would definitely go again.
