- paul_coleman19797 contributionsSorry I haven't A Clue ShowWent to this show this evening at the Sheffield City Hall. Fantastic show, thoroughly enjoyed it. We were greeted warmly and politely, and shown our seats, nothing was a problem to the hosting staff. The building is beautiful, superbly well kept, clean and tidy. My Wife and I usually have a tradition when we see a show, and that is at the interval we always have an ice cream. I appreciate that this may sound petty, but the interval was 20 minutes, as such staff should know how many people will be in the building, and then employ the suitable amount of staff so that all catering needs are attended. We were situated in the stalls by door way 'L'. The que for refreshments was lengthy and moved very slow, then the bell rang for us to take our seats. Because we were enjoying the we didn't want to miss the second part, so reluctantly had to give up our place in the que. Whilst it didn't ruin the evening it took the shine off, and was very frustrating. Think Sheffield City Hall needs to review this. Other wise, great venue and will return, but perhaps with my own refreshments under my coat!!! 😂 🤣 😂 🤣Visited January 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten January 14, 2020
- ImOntheroadagain74348 contributionsReally nice venue - good sound.Attended last night (7th October 2021) to see Cliff Richard. Fabulous concert. The foyer is very tiny and tight so I went straight to my seat. The venue itself is a lovely building. The auditorium has really good sound and access. Last time we attended here, on entering my friend was made to hand over her unopened plastic bottle of pop being told it wasnt allowed. So, as she needs a drink for her medical condition, she went straight to the outlet inside and bought exactly the same thing for twice as much - the first one she was told to leave on the counter and collect at the end - of course at the end.....someone else had collected it!!. I wasnt having that......so it was in my back pocket. The venue is right in the centre, so plenty of restuarants, pubs and food outlets to visit before the show. Im not sure about the parking as I came on the train - it was a good walk from the train station and about a 10 minute walk from the Premier Inn where I stayed on Angel Street. Heating and lighting inside was good. I do prefer venues with slight raised seats (this isnt), as, its not the venues fault, but Cliff spent most time in the middle of the stage, i had a chap in the seat in front and slightly left whose head completely blocked my view, so I had to sit sideways all night to be able to see Cliff. The stalls seats seemed to have a really decent amount of leg room too. All in all a good venue, that I will return to. I am not local but travel a lot for concerts.Visited October 2021Written October 8, 2021
- Neil KLiverpool, United Kingdom617,194 contributionsBeautiful buildingPub and bar hopping around this part of town my twin brother Stephen and I also took in the great architecture, one building that certainly impressed us was Sheffield City Hall. The work of architect E Vincent Harris and opened in 1932 ,the building is owned by Sheffield City Council. I love the look of this building, constructed in the Neo Classical style of architecture thats so pleasing on the eye ,it looks cool, its a building that certainly commands your attention, very photogenic, makes for some great photographic opportunities especially at night, its a building I highly recommend you visit if you're in the area and easy to locate along Barkers Pool.Visited September 2021Traveled with friendsWritten September 13, 2021

We attended a concert in the Ballroom.
Access was terrible for older guests with many stairs and only a small lift. Seating was poor, the room was cold, accoustics were worse than any venue we have visited, the bar did not sell wine and was dysfunctional, and our seats were occupied by other guests who had been mis-directed by staff.
We made a written complaint to Sheffield City Hall after the concert but did not receive a response. Obviously they don't care about customer service. We will never return.

We saw Seven Drunken Nights in the circle seats. A nice position to see full stage in comfort. Sound system & lighting good & the show content fantastic. Can recommend anyone who likes The Dubliners music to see this presentation. Thank you to all helpful staff.

The cancelling of Roy chubby browns show is an absolute disgrace. After 30 years at the city hall how can it suddenly be decided it’s not what the people want
people in power abusing there positions. Let the ticket sales decide if people want to see him or not. Now people have had that choice taken away by management letting there personal views get in there way if there professional status. I certainly won’t give city hall my money for other shows I attend.

We visited for the first time to see Joe Lycett. The staff were so friendly and helpful especially as I have mobility problems. Inside the building is stunning and the acoustics were spot on, so you could hear everything clearly. I did notice that the staff were having problems with accessibility for wheelchair users, from what I notice some had accessible tickets but they were given ordinary seats and not wheelchair spaces so that caused some heated discussions between audience members and staff. I will say the issues were cleared up very quickly and everyone seemed happy. I will be more than happy to return to watch further productions.

We came to see Heaven 17 perform the first two Human League albums. The view of the stage was excellent from the stalls and the sound was as good as the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. Covid certificate checking was efficient and getting served at the bars was easy

I received tickets to see mrs browns boys and unfortunately the gift giver was a little tight. Our seats were for the balcony on the very back row on the side. This meant we couldn’t see maybe 1/4 of the stage, which we then found out meant that some quite important parts weren’t visible to us. I appreciate there’s not a lot the city hall can do about this now as it was just poor planning when it was originally built, however this is just more of a warning to others. I’ve uploaded a photo to support.
If we had been any further round then I don’t see how you could see any of the stage whatsoever. There were some seats that were literally facing the black curtain at the side which would mean to see the stage you would have to sit sideways on your seat. Just a really strange set up!

We came to watch "Strictly Ballroom" which was a fantastic production and the content and quality of dance was excellent . Kevin Clifton and Maisie Smith had a brilliant cast around them . The venue of Sheffield City hall provides a good environment with good acoustics and views . We sat in row M and had a clear site of the stage.
We travelled by train and had not been to the City Hall before . There is no signage from the station to the prominent venues in Sheffield but there are lots of blue signs indicating g how to get into Derbyshire (Hathersage) by bicycle . I used my phone to direct us which took us a steep hill and the longest way as I found out by returning downhill via Fitzallen square and through the bus station.
Please Sheffield , get some good signs installed , most other major cities have these from stations and then at all junctions to ensure you are heading in the right direction.

Here for Test Match Live-which was excellent. But have to say Simon was great! Booked this 2 years ago for my hubby, who was really looking forward to it,but works in London and missed early train-lots of running.etc! Explained this to Simon who reassured me that even if he was late he’d get in no problem. I then had to add that hubby had bags due to being away, another member of staff said “no way “ to storing them which was a huge issue as hubby wouldn’t have been able to come but Simon saved the day and stored them for us-absolute diamond, wish service was like this in more places.

Great venue with great seats. Even high up you get a good view. Saw Texas and what a brilliant concert. Drinks were naturally expensive, but where isn’t with a captive audience.
Been here twice now for concerts and would certainly look at again

Stunning inside and out. What a ceiling. I did spend some time just gazing at the ceiling trying to work out how something like that was ever built. It was a mathematical genius of epic proportions. The accoustics are fantastic as well. We went to see Heaven 17 and they did sound amazing. Staff although a little untrained on occasion were very friendly. Toilets were clean and hardly any queueing . Fab venue

Hi,
The closest accessible parking to the City Hall is the bays on Balm Green, they are free to use for the public!
Also, check out this link for more information on where those with a Blue Badge may park: sheffield.gov.uk/bluebadge
We hope this helps!

Hi well I have booked 2 tickets to see the elo experience next October for my partner who is a big elo fan. I have booked the stalls, row bb seats 27 and 28, and was quite pleased with this until I read that standing is allowed at the front of the stage! As my partner is 61 he will want to remain seated, and am now worried he won't be able to see the band! Has anyone seen this act , here before? Do people generally stand for the entire show?

Plus, when we went and people at the front did stand we could still see the stage clearly. I hope you both enjoy.

Hi I am wanting to book to see the elo experience next Oct as a surprise for my partner who is a big elo fan. Although born and bred in Sheffield I have never been to the city hall so have no idea what it is like. Can anyone tell me which seats give a really good view? Many thanks, Tracy.

I agree with the 2 people’s recommendation, the stalls are best seats in the house, I sat in the middle on the front row & I had plenty of leg room to. I hope you Jeff Lynne’s ELO gig !
