- Steph FSheffield, United Kingdom12 contributionsFantastic day outWe had a really lovely day out here. We booked the feeding package including the otter feed and the lemur encounter and it was well worth it. We stroked a red lemur who ate dried fruit out of our hands which was such a beautiful and memorable experience. The two keepers were very knowledgeable about the lemurs and gave us an interesting talk about them. Theres a range of animals here and highlights for me were, besides the lemurs, the colourful Lorikeets and the adorable and very friendly otters. Unfortunately the bird displays werent running but they have lots of owls here and other birds of prey including a very vocal raven called Odin, so I am really looking forward to returning when the displays are running again! The cafe does delicious cakes and good coffee, they have options for dietary requirements too, I would recommend spending around 2-3 hours here then finishing with a nice hot drink and slice of cake from the cafe :)Visited October 2020Written November 15, 2020
- simkazChesterfieldChesterfield, United Kingdom70 contributionsGreat but entrance fee should be reduced to compensate for less activities.Had a lovely morning with my mum and sister. Feeding the animals was fun. Lovely place but there’s a lot more things for the younger children to do. Perfect for parents to meet and children to play on the play areas and water area. Lovely picnic areas too. I think they should reduce the entry fee a little as understandably crowds couldn’t get together for the bird displays and unfortunately the cafe was closed too.Visited May 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten July 19, 2021
- Mrs SLincoln, United Kingdom143 contributionsAn amazing day outI love love love this place there's something for everyone, all the staff are so welcoming and friendly you can't not leave this great day out feeling happy. There's plenty of seating so you can get a rest if you need it, the cafe is so clean with good quality food and fair prices, you can also take a picnic. The animals are really looked after and the whole place has such a great feel to it and I think could be loved for any ageVisited June 2019Traveled with familyWritten January 24, 2020

Nothing open but still paid full price!!!! Due to covid, the main butterfly house wasn't open (but it was open during the same restrictions last June when we last went??) neither was the lemur house (but again was last June?) as we were still charged full price felt a little ripped off. We booked 2 weeks in advance to ensure we got in due to covid but asked for a change of date as forecast rain all day (when tickets were still available) told no and when asked for this it be reviewed no reply, no phone number available we just had to turn up and then get a rainy day pass. Spent £71 to walk around a half-closed park in the rain with no animals, as all in their cages with nothing open. Only book the day before you are due to go to ensure to don't lose your money. Found other places like cannon hall farm and Yorkshire Wildlife park much more customer-friendly and better value for money!!

I visited 3 weeks ago and my family have been returning customers for years. .. we over purchased food as it added more to the basket than intended. I spoke to the lady in the counter on the day who was more than helpful and asked if we wanted a refund to which I said yes please... So she wrote a note down to have the action taken.
The butterfly farm emailed me and said they would only do a transfer for next visit (bearing in mind I spent almost £100 to visit plus extra spend on the day)...I explain the situation and despite my clarification about what the staff advised, they outright refused to honour the refund promised
Had this been a person not turn up I more that understand given its someone else who can no longer attend, but bags of food (which are seriously overpriced) is frankly shocking as the animals still eat it and I didn't recurve the extra bags.. And to also not take responsibility of what the staff advised.
Also taken 3 weeks of chasing to get this concluded. No longer about the money but more the principle and shocking customer service
Unfortunately we will no longer be returning

We visited post lockdown having booked an entry slot online. There was a lot less than last year, we only saw one Mara in the walk through and no wallabys. The free flying bird display isn’t happening at the moment, nor is the tractor ride. We didn’t see any lorikeets in the house either, which is a shame, as they ate from our hands last year. We paid £70 for 3 adults and a free toddler, with the Pre ordered picnic box for 2 and a child’s picnic box. We felt the overall price was a bit much for the amount on at the moment, but the picnic was absolutely delicious, in fact we’d go again even if just for that! We paid an extra £3 for some fish for the otters, and feeding them was lovely. We also paid £1 for some veg for the other animals, but unfortunately they seemed to have plenty already! It was a nice trip out, but having worried that 3 hours wouldn’t be enough (it wouldn’t have been last year), we struggled to fill the 3 hours, even having sat down for about an hour at lunch. The staff were lovely and friendly, and it was extremely quiet. Not sure we’d go again until it’s back to normal, but we did enjoy it.

Visited with our two grandchildren on Sunday 12th Sept 2001, we have been before
and found the WHOLE experience to be ok although it is not a cheap option.
However once you’ve seen the butterflys and the odd animal it’s part of the whole experience to visit the cafe and ride on the tractor but guess what, cafe closed and tractor rides not running!
It is possible to get a drink (awful coffee) from the big red bus but a poor alternative.
Kids disappointed no tractor rides. ☠️ Grandparents disappointed cafe closed.
Even with these closed facilities they charge the same.
You might want to give it a miss until they offer everything they should.
Tip ~ if you do decide to spend your hard earned money there give the bus cafe a miss and go to the tea rooms on the way out, (you have to have exited the gift shop on the way out before you can use the tea rooms although I guess if you wanted to go earlier you would have to leave through gift shop, visit the tea rooms then re enter, )

We had a great time. The toddler was entranced by the butterflies in the butterfly house and kept following them back and forth. I always find it very peaceful watching them flutter around. We had been before so we knew the butterfly house would be warm so we layered up accordingly to allow for the colder outside areas.
There were some great Halloween decorations around and we all enjoyed trying to track our running speed by the otters.
We were able to eat our picnic above the games room. We did attempt to get some sweet treats from the cafe not realising it was closed and that the queue for the coffee shop was huge.
Both the toddler and the big kid really enjoyed the day and probably would have liked to stay longer.

What an amazing place! Just walking down the drive we knew we were in for a good time when we received such a warm welcome from the staff. We took our granddaughter and we all had a fab time. I was very impressed with the whole place, the layout and easy way to get round and see everything. The animals and birds all were extremely well cared for with lots of space.
I ordered the picnic afternoon tea - what a treat it was, plentiful and fresh, much better than carrying sandwiches around.
With restriction of numbers and a time slot for visitors this meant it felt a safe place to be, not too crowded.
All in all we give it *****. Thank you.

We decided to use our last day in Sheffield to visit the butterfly house as Megan loves them so much, what we didn’t expect was to find a hidden gem.
We arrived shortly before 1230 to find decent parking and a lovely little cafe that is open to non guests as well. As we entered the park we came to the meerkats and from there it just got better, there was lots of interactive things to do from the dinosaur trail to the animal running challenge, they have a whole host of beautiful animals ranging from chickens, to parrots, lemurs to horses, there is something for everyone,
We took part in the free armadillo experience and got to spend time with the animals and their keepers discussing them and learning about what makes the so special, I would recommend 3-4 hours for a full experience of the animals and cafe which also has some amazing food, I would suggest the signature milkshake
A really amazing little zoo worth a visit

Hugely impressed with my visit today. We’ve not done a lot due to fears around social distancing but risked it here today, I shouldn’t have worried. Nowhere did it feel busy, sterilising was happening frequently and there were sterilising points dotted all around. Whilst it’s pricey it felt very safe and my children could play without it feeling busy. We will certainly be back.

Overall this would be a lovely day out if some of the staff were a bit more family friendly. Booked entry for the second slot of the day (10.15) and they'd already run out of animal food so we had some very disappointed children before we'd even got in. The lady blamed it on being the summer holidays and so having more visitors than normal but there were hardly any cars in the car park so it just seemed that they aren't organised. The children loved the interactivity of the dinosaurs and water sprays around the park. The staff in the cafe were friendly although they apologised because someone had taken the till away an hour before closure so although they could serve us they couldn't accept cash. This again seems like a lack of organisation / poor management. The cafe toilets were also closed over an hour before closing, leaving just the dirty toilets in the play area available at that end of the park. Fifteen minutes before closing time we made our way to the other toilets by the exit so the children could relieve themselves before the journey home in rush hour traffic however they'd closed all toilets except one disabled toilet! Consequently, there was a long queue including many small children. After waiting for 10 minutes with still many people in the queue, we asked the lady cleaning the toilets if they could be reopened because of the length of the queue and some v desperate small children. She looked at us and told us no, that was the only toilet unless we went to Lottie's cafe outside the exit. I think this was just to get us out the park because Lottie's cafe was closed. This showed a lack of concern for the needs of their customers, poor planning and management.

Thank you for your feedback, we apologise if you were left disappointed in any way.
We only have a certain amount of animal feed available every day so that the animals don't get overfed. We recommend adding the animal feed bundle at checkout when booking tickets online to avoid disappointment on the day.
We take all comments on board and will pass these on to the relevant teams.

I've read mixed reviews about the animal enclosure sizes. If anyone has photos I'd appreciate seeing them or any extra information. Thanks!

you can spend a full day there, a minimum of 2 hrs is required, I'd probably say 3 to 5 hrs is recommended as there are lots of keeper talks spread throughout the day and this also allows time to eat whether you choose to eat in or take a picnic

I would say that it's the X5 Dinnington bus that passes not more than a mile away. There's 2 an hour through the day.
