A beautiful garden with lovely renovated greenhouses. Free to visit and wander in and a great cafe too. Don't forget to hunt down the bear!

The Gardens are run by Friends and the City Council. Well kept and full of well established plants and trees. The glass houses are of particular interest. The tea rooms are licensed and have a range of cakes and meals available. Well worth spending a couple of hours and particularly good for children with paths and bushes to hide in... More

Ideal place to wander around and take in the scenery, with obviously lots of greenery and plants, but also a really nice cafe at the top of the gardens, with toilets. There are lots of places to relax on benches or the grass, if its dry weather and the gardens are full of interesting features, including water gardens and even... More

Beautifully kept gardens with plenty of space to sit and relax. I haven't visited the cafe, but there is a cafe with very clean toilets by it. Lovely place to escape the busy city centre for a while, especially on a sunny day.

Visited on a beautiful sunny day and particularly enjoyed the rose garden, the glass house and the well stocked borders that lead away from it. The grass was well kept and we came away feeling very relaxed, what a great place to spend time in the middle of a city.

On a boiling hot day we shadow hopped through beautiful gardens to the cafe for excellent refreshments. We then strolled through the greenhouse which was a little bit of a let down as quite a few plants seemed to be dead or dying. They also need lots more labelling on them especially the rare ones. The gardens are a great... More
