I've been here many times from being a child up to the present day the one thing I look for a retirement home is the large polar bear things to be a big grizzly bear but that seems to have gone. I will take my child to the Children's Hospital across the road and after I popped in for a... More

We always enjoy the Sheffield's best Museum, there is so much information about our lives and the way we have developed. There is always some interesting activities going on there. We saw a brilliant Magician there when the Magic exhibition was on, and lots fascinating things about the art of illusion.

Had a flying visit here (30 mins). Enjoyed the Japanese pottery exhibition and the museum had a really happy, hands on feel to it. Lots of buttons to press and a really interactive place for kids of all ages. Nice to learn a bit about Sheffield, its history and its people. Beautiful building set in the park which was a... More

The museum is free and whilst displays remain largely the same the kids always enjoy a visit. The exhibition displays are always really interesting with displays for both kids and adults. There seem to be a number of new displays added recently which obviously adds to the interest. Indoor picnic area always great for wet days and park setting nice... More

Really quite small but not a bad thing for small children. Entrance free. Can be very busy. Some areas a little dark. Lots of local history and quite interactive in a dressing up way (Victorian maids costumes, magic outfits for the magic exhibition etc). 'Picnic' area upstairs could do with better ventilation. Cafe nice, ladies work VERY hard when busy.... More

I have been to this museum twice and since the refurb it looks great, same exhibitions but a bit more up to date. Great for families, though I think they could do with more exhibitions and a more regular update with fresh galleries that change each year.

Not a bad place to visit if you have couple of hours spare, shows a bit of Sheffield's history but found Kelham Island much more interesting. Set in nice grounds though.

I used to wag school in this place, hiding form the wagger bobby amongst the stuffed polar bear and the wooly mammoth. Now many years later after a total refurbishment the place still packs a punch for entertainment, history and a great coffee shop to boot.

Sadly this museum has turned in to a glorified amusement arcade with far too many exhibits having buttons to press. For a city of the size of Sheffield and with such a rich heritage heritage this museum has missed an opportunity to educate and inspire in the way a good museum should, and the old museum did before the refit....
