Great name for a bar
Sep 2021 • Friends
My twin brother Stephen and I couldn't resist dropping into The Itchy Pig ,a bar whose name must surely relate to that d staple of the pub snack namely pirk scratchings .
The bar itself is really good ,a cool interior, nice eclectic decor and furnishings including plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar despite its relatively small size, its just a great bar to enjoy some quality brews.
We were here on a Tuesday afternoon, we were in fact the first customers of the day as we got here as the bar opened ,we had a study of their real ale's and we both opted to have Abbeydale Brewery heathen APA, these were served in excellent condition, we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great bar we were in.
My pale ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced ale with a big hit of hops, hints of toffee and a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a slight bitter finish, a classic pale ale so refreshing on a hot afternoon.
We really enjoyed our visit to here, great beers, great knowledgeable staff and a fine bar ,what more could you ask for.
We moved on after our delicious beers and when we are back in Sheffield hopefully soon we will make a beeline to here again .
The Itchy Pig is easy to locate along Glossop Road.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Thursday, Open from 3pm.
Friday & Saturday, Open from Midday.
Sunday, Open from 3pm.
A great bar,if you're in the area most definitely well worth checking out .

Superb Micro-Pub With Friendly Staff.
Aug 2021 • Friends
The Itchy Pig is a superb micro-pub that offers an excellent beer range and bar snacks and is worth visiting when in this area of Sheffield.
The best named pub I have visited in years with a superb well kept interior and good seating and a nice bar and bar area in a compact space.
The Itchy Pig is housed in a former gift shop thats located on Glossop road were there are a couple of good pubs.We came here primarily for the ales on offer but I like unusually named pubs and bars and this one ticked all the boxes.
When here we had a few glasses of Heathen APA from the Abbeydale brewery which where superb and well priced and served by one of the kindest bar staff members we have met in years.
The Itchy Pig serves superb beers and is located in a great area of Sheffield and is easy to locate from Glossop Road/Ashgate Road bus stop it's a short walk.(This is my first review of the Itchy Pig).

Friday-Saturday-12.00-23.00.

Great selection of beers and great chat from staff

Lovely small pub with barstaff who had great knowledge of local breweries and bars, and good chat overall.
Beautiful decor - old Singer sewing machine as a table is beautiful.
Great selection of beers, well balanced between styles. Would def go again.

Micro-pub
Feb 2020
Nice pub with good ales. A good addition to the micro-pub scene. A good place for a swift drink with a small number of friends as the place isn't that big!

Must have gone the wrong evening!

We read the reviews and were tempted; a micro-pub after all. Tasty real ale, ambiance, conversation - features of a good local that wizened oldies look for, after all.

Wish we hadn't bothered. None of the above visible, only two ales available. As for tasters,"not doing them at the moment"!! In short, almost entirely devoid of atmosphere and frankly, unwelcoming.

It's a fifteen minute walk to a super micro-pub on Eccleshall Road .....

A tiny little Gem
Mar 2020 • Friends
Love it! always a pleasure to see what delights they have on each time I visit. It's such a shame that the legendary bar snack 'Pig of Doom' pork scratchings are now sold in a tiny packet at a ridiculous price!

A small Quirky Ale pub adorned with pictures of pigs
Nov 2019
Nice small pub with friendly staff. It is more suited to couples or with a few friends, but there was 11 of us including 4 youngsters so very difficult to be seated together. So half of our group had to stand. Fortunately it was mid afternoon and they weren’t busy. Wooden floors and treadle sewing machines for table add to the atmosphere in the pub. Plenty of real ales to suit everyone’s taste and we all tried a different one. The youngsters with us tried the pork scratching that came in a variety of flavours - they thought they were very good.
