Of the three main churches in reading, I think this is the nicest and I don’t think it is given enough appreciation due to the heavy traffic around it. The church itself is very spacious and seems to attract a good amount of people, the location just lets it down a little bit. Other than that, great place.

One of Readings three medieval churches (the other two are St Mary's minster and St Laurence). St Giles was built in the 12th century but there are lots of Victorian additions (like the top of the tower and the spire). It's in a really horrible location right next to a busy road (on Southampton St just south of the town centre, not too far from the Oracle shopping centre) which was probably a great location when it was first built. If you can distract your eyes away from the three lanes of traffic zooming past you it is quite an attractive building. Worth a look if you are passing by but I wouldn't take a special trip just to see it.
